right after i choose my character and press the join button, a screen with a city pops up and a loading bar etc which i assume is normal. then the game randomly crashes. im using a Mac if that helps at all?
it also says that there are new updates available before i press join. how do i update these new updates
-
Ignore the message about updates. You don't need to update.
Try setting Font Scaling to 50% in the PS setup and see if you can login. If that doesn't work, create a second (alt) character and see if you can login with it. If you can login with a different character, send a tell to a GM explaining your problem.
Good luck.

how do i scale the font? where is the PS set up?

You might also want to read the stickied threads in the Mac Specific Issues section of the forums here. There are several things they can detail to try that you might find useful and that I can't recall off the top of my head :D

uhm... i saw something for PC problems, and something saying not to post mac or linux issues here. and can someone direct me to the PS setup
-
In the Planeshift3D folder, there should be an icon called "pssetup", double click it, and the font scaling will be there. Try reducing the font scaling to around 50% or the smallest you can see, then click ok. Now start up PS and you may be able to log in. Since this happened to me before, I think it's because there is too many lines so put a line of space between each one and you can put your font scaling back to 100%. If it doesn't work, please post back. :sorcerer:

well actually, there are 2 pssetups. one crashes the moment i open it, and the other doesnt have a default application. this problem is really becoming a pain :@#\

Please read the Guide sticky in this forum. Particularly, see the note about texture compression in the IMPORTANT part. If that does not solve your problem, please post a Console log (as detailed by the "How to Obtain a Console/Crash Log" sticky).

What are your system specs?

im trying to open pssetup so i can play the game, but there are two versions in my planeshift 3d folder. the first one crashes the moment it opens, and the other has no default application. this really bugs me, i want to be able to play! >:(

processor: 1.6 GH powerPC G5
memory: 512 MB DDR SDRAM
i checked out the guide, and I have no idea where to find that line of code, becuase the only thing my computer can open up the version of pssetup that doesnt crash the moment i open it where it works, is textedit, one of the worst word processing systems ever. and it gives me no code whatsoever. it looks like this:
System.ApplicationID = pssetup
Video.ScreenWidth = 600
Video.ScreenHeight = 400
Video.ScreenDepth = 16
System.PlugIns.iVFS = crystalspace.kernel.vfs
System.PlugIns.iGraphics3D = crystalspace.graphics3d.opengl
System.Plugins.iDocumentSystem = crystalspace.documentsystem.tinyxml
System.PlugIns.iImageIO = crystalspace.graphic.image.io.multiplexer
System.PlugIns.iEngine = crystalspace.engine.3d
System.PlugIns.iFontServer = crystalspace.font.server.multiplexer
System.PlugIns.iFontServer.1 = crystalspace.font.server.freetype2
System.PlugIns.iFontServer.2 = crystalspace.font.server.default
Fontplex.Fonts.Default.*Fallback = /this/data/ttf/arial.ttf
thats all. any idea what i can do to make it work?
sorry if this post comes across as very annoyed.

In Windows, One of the files is the .exe, the other is a .cfg file. You can open the cfg in notepad, but the .cfg extension might not be registered on your computer
When you try to run the pssetup program, I've had problems before if an instance of psclient is running, so I'd just double-check to make sure that that isn't causing problems

Next time edit your other topic with this problem, they are related.

if you would read the whole first post, you'll notice that it specifically says: i have a mac and that we are also in the mac issues forum. what does this tell you about my computer?
