Title: TTronic's second art thread
Post by: TTronic on June 24, 2007, 01:38:46 am
Hi,

Its been a quite while since I last posted something here. (Almost two years.. ). Nice to see you again =). My holidays are here finally and now I have a month or so time to do some art for a change… Actually, last time I did something like this was when I last posted here…  ::|

I had my inspiration to do something and first that came to mind was to draw something to you guys and gals. Hope you like it.

(ok.. he is nude… :whistling:  but let’s say that he just emerged from another plane of existence :P )

Ty =)

That is pure CG. The Enki it self is sculpted in zbrush and everything else is made with Photoshop (colours, background etc.). Basically i made a 3d black and white object that had only light information. Then i exported it to photoshop and tweaked that to look good (fur, etc) and then i coloured it and made that background. Tools i used in photoshop was: brush, colour dodge, colour burn, blur, smudge and leaf-like brush to make those leafs.

That technique it self should be quite easy for anyone...and quite fast. But for me it took quite a while because i am still learning and i have just learned the basics only (and my computer should be used as an anchor, if the good of human kind is in mind).

If everything would have gone like in the movies that picture would have taken around 3h-6h to complete… I used around 20h (6-8h in zbrush, rest in PS)… a week if considered that first I learned to sculpt… :P

I am quite pleased my self with that picture… But I am quite worried that I just got lucky and that’s the best I can do… Though I am making a new image, I have modelled it and photoshopping is on its way. Hope to get it here within few days =)

Edit:
Now i got my image somewhat ready...

Not so good, in my opinion as that last one… at all…  but i hope u like it. It's made with same method as the last one: character shadows / lightning in zbrush, everything else with photoshop brushing. (if there is anyone who is interested to know how that was done..  ::))

Edit2:
First i thought i dont post this second version, but then i thought this way i can get some feedback what u think about it.  I like those shadows more, but it still lacks something.. dont know what. And now, it is too dark...  Well, hopefully next one is better...

I could tell that was ZBrush.  I think there's something in the way the colors or lighting that make ZBrush renderings apparent.

I prefer the second image of your King on the rock.  The first one looks too sculpted, like he was carved and isn't a living being.  The second has much better lighting in my opinion.  I think your model would look better if you focused a bit more on his fingers.  The fingers don't look distinct or seperate.

They look awesome =)

The second one would look nice as a desktop background methinks :)

I'm longing for some brushwork with a hard edge. Everything looks too soft and blurred out for me, although there sure is some good work overall. Don't use soft edges or blur or smudge for everything in the future.

Ty all for your comments =)

Now i have to take a week or two break from drawing Planeshift chars because i got my self in position where i try to impress some one to give money for my "art"... And they like to see something else than Planeshift related stuff.

Images are not that good that someone actually would pay me to do these, but I am quite bored with my day job and if I could get some intern position from art house etc. where I could learn from pros to become one… if I can be one.

I don’t think you want to see my other work, so will meet again in two weeks and I will draw something for you again. =)

One could suggest an idea what to draw? ;)

Cya and wish me luck :P

There are plenty open requests in the topic The Great Fan-Fanart Project: REQUESTS (http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php?topic=21466.0) (for example: ^ Queen Lolitra Purrty)... ;)
