I don't like to install games onto Ubuntu. (Linux)
I been download online games in .tar.gz and unzip into /home/mitchell place instead into the file system. The file system is pain to deal with the installer and uninstaller. If I don't like a game then I deleted in the /home/mitchell without worry about the mess.

If you use the binary installer from here (http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php?topic=19389.msg212939#msg212939) it gives a very easy option to change the installation directory which will achieve what you wish

Aye, just install it in /home/mitchell/PlaneShift and select 'no' on any options like desktop items, system wide install etc. Then you can just delete the folder if you want to 'uninstall'.
