Title: Loading Screen
Post by: Zuriki on July 05, 2007, 09:02:42 pm
The game loads to about 95% then just closes and nothing happens. I removed, rebooted and re-installed and the same problem re-occured. I am possitive that I have the right specifications to run the game (Except RAM which i only have 512MB for the minimum though everything else matches).

Running: Planeshift 0.3.018
Operating On: WinXP SP2
Graphics Card: Radeon 9800 PRO (ATI)
Processer: AMD Athlon Xp 2600+

Any suggestions?

make sure your graphics card drivers are up most to date.

I updated my drivers to the latest, but the same problem occurs. X-/

Sounds to me like you are in a spot in the game that causes a crash
after update creat an alt and have a gm move your main char
That should well hopefully should fix your problem with the loading

This could be, but if that doesn't work, I would also go to the setup program and play with the things there.. sometimes they will cause you to crash also.
(Things that have helped in certain situations: turn vertex buffer object ON.. turn load all maps/keep maps loaded both OFF.. and possibly disabling sound or running in fullscreen but they shouldn't affect this.)

Also make sure you do not have Keep all maps loaded or load all maps  checked
Up till about 2 months ago i used to keep all my maps loaded
this is fine if you have the ram to do it
and i have 4 gigs so it wasnt a problem till about 2 months ago
one day i went to log in and it hit the load screen then the dreaded error
so i tryed many things
and the only thing that worked was unchecking those things i just mentioned
Good luck :)
