Title: Release .019 libcal.so.12 problem
Post by: Zardar on July 10, 2007, 10:54:33 am
Hello, I downloaded the Release .019 and installation was successful. At least no error message came up.  :)
Also the ./pssetup is running well, except a waring message as following:
-------------------------------------------
/opt/PlaneShift$ ./pssetup
chmod: Beim Setzen der Zugriffsrechte für „pss“: Operation not permitted
WARNING: could not load plugin 'crystalspace.documentsystem.multiplexer'
Mounting skin: /planeshift/art/apps.zip
Skipping 'YesNo' because it's already loaded

planeshift.setup.application:
  Application initialized successfully.  [clicked ok]
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
-------------------------------------------
With sudo in front following message is comming up:
=== ===============
sudo ./pssetup
Password:
WARNING: could not load plugin 'crystalspace.documentsystem.multiplexer'
Mounting skin: /planeshift/art/apps.zip
Skipping 'YesNo' because it's already loaded

planeshift.setup.application:
  Application initialized successfully. [clicked ok]
Segmentation fault (core dumped)
==================

But real problem seems to be the "./psclient".
I receive error massage regarding "libcal.so.12" which i couldn't find until now.
-------------------------------------------
./psclient
chmod: Beim Setzen der Zugriffsrechte für „psc“: Operation not permitted
./psc: error while loading shared libraries: libcal3d.so.12: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
[user]:/opt/PlaneShift$
-------------------------------------------
or with sudo:
==================
sudo ./psclient./psc: error while loading shared libraries: libcal3d.so.12: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
[user]:/opt/PlaneShift$
==================

I install PS in /opt/PlaneShift.

Can anyone help me out?
Thanks in forehand.

wenn sich chmod beschwert stimmen wohl irgendwelche rechte nicht. bist du mitglied in der gruppe games? ist ps für die gruppe games freigemacht?
ansonsten einfach mal
$ chgrp -R /opt/PlaneShift

könnte aber auch einfach an der .019 liegen...

oder braucht man zusatzpakete wie crystalspace?

Where did you download .019 from?? I didn't think it was released FTP yet.  Can't find where the download link is at.

Thanks for the reply.
Permission can easily be changed, but "./pssetup" is running.
Other have same problem, seems to be related o the release :(

I downloaded from PS Homepage/Account/Download/"Linux", "Check this forum thread....."

http://www.planeshift.it/download.html (http://www.planeshift.it/download.html)

Other try to compile by them self, but I'am to lazy and low experienced with compiling, even if there is  good instruction like here:
http://planeshift.cvs.sourceforge.net/*checkout*/planeshift/planeshift/docs/compiling.html (http://planeshift.cvs.sourceforge.net/*checkout*/planeshift/planeshift/docs/compiling.html)

I have the same problem, under Debian Etch. In Etch, the version of the library mentioned above is libcal3d.so.11.
I see, that in the libs directory of the PlaneShift installation, there are libs. I do not understand why be so lame and not to include the problematic libs which the new version requires.

In the meantime I checked, even in the future upcoming next Debian, which is now in testing phase, version 11 is included.

Sorry, it becomes my blog :)
I went to https://gna.org/projects/cal3d/, from where I downloaded the debian package for unstable. Fortunatly enough, it`s dependencys require nothing extra, so it can fit into my Debian Etch and I was able to install it. The psclient now starts. Maybe you also should find the appropriate library for your distribution.

No, I checked and the torrent link does not work, but the direct download for 32bit szstems, which is 1 line up still seems to work.

ah! actually a good idea o/

ok, heres the response:
Code: [Select]
--19:51:57--  http://download.xordan.com/PlaneShift_CBV0.3.019-x86.bin
  (Versuch: 6) => `PlaneShift_CBV0.3.019-x86.bin'
Verbindungsaufbau zu download.xordan.com|64.74.223.10|:80... verbunden.
HTTP Anforderung gesendet, warte auf Antwort... Lesefehler (Die Verbindung wurde vom Kommunikationspartner zurückgesetzt) beim Vorspann (header).
Erneuter Versuch.

means sort of "connected.. http-request sent.. reading-error.. trying again", and turns into an endless loop =C

Zardar,

I also had a problem with a missing libcal3d.so.12, and running ./fixlibs.sh did not acquire it either. However, Citizen gave me the following link:

http://download.gna.org/cal3d/cal3d/gnulinux/debian/unstable/src/libcal3d12_0.10.0+0.11.0+rc2-1_i386.deb

This is a debian file, but it also worked for me on Ubuntu 6.10. Install it with "dpkg -i" which put libcal3d.so.12 in my /usr/lib directory. I copied this file to my Planeshift/libs/ directory, which seems to have solved the problem. I hope this helps you.

I seems to work also under Ubuntu 7.0.4.
But still the server connection failed. :(

Hope to see you in game soon.
