1. The server status reads failed even though it's up and running for everyone else.
2. laanx.fragnetics.com does not load. There is no response from the server.
3. Planeshift is not being blocked by Windows Firewall, nor is it being blocked by Norton's Firewall.
She uses Windows Vista...
This is what I gathered from a very good friend of mine, and me and some other friends have been trying to help for quite some time... Alas She couldn't even download from the torrent because the server wasn't responding to her... I had to dig up a download version from of off one of xordan's sites (which I appreciate greatly).
I call out to the forum of Planeshift, Help?
Suggestions, ideas, really, anything is appreciated.
You have my thanks.

Alright, Earl_Listbard had to go, I'll answer your questions.
-
*EL walks back into the thread.*
Well, is the rest of planeshift as stumped as I? Is there no awnser for my friend's problem?
Surely there is something wrong, that can be fixed?
-
pateince grasshopper.
but, first are you connected directly to the modem or do you have a network of some sort?
try disabling both firewalls, not just allowing ps.
-
Disabling the fire wall has already been tried, still it says failed.
-
you didn't answer all his questions, are you on a network\using a router?
-
Ah my apologies, had to get in touch with my contact to get that answer, well it would seem she... well to quote
"umm.. well i don't use a router... i turn on my lappy and it picks up a wifi signal
i have no isp"
-
Ahh tell her to wardrive a better connection or actually pay for service.
-
wifi = router, almost always, if it doesn't then you know you don't.
but yeah not having your own connection makes things very difficult.
-
Hmmm... well I believe this is a good idea billibous, but to expand on it my contact would like to know why to pay for a better service when her current way of getting to the internet seems to work fine...
(all except for PS of course :whistling: )
In other words I doubt she thinks thats the reason, could you explain, please?
EDIT: (she would also like to point out that she was able to play PS on wifi signals before without any problems...)
-
great so she is connecting herself to a possible insecure network connection (you dont know what network viruses or people are on that network) :\. Well that wireless signal is coming from some device that is probably blocking the port for PS
-
yes but as I mentioned her service never blocked ps before and allow me to state an understaement when I say "Shes played a long time"
Why would it all of a sudden start blocking ps?
-
it having worked for a long time doesn't mean anything.
it boils down to this... we don't know.
could be somebody decided to block everything but web, e-mail, ftp on the wireless.
could be the router is beginning to flake
coudl be...
could be...
could be...
boils down to be any number of things, non-of which we can rule out because she isn't using her own connection.
