Title: New bubbles
Post by: Bastiq on July 14, 2007, 01:37:22 am
Well... this started when i first downloaded the 019 release of PS and didn't like the bubbles that came with it by default. Instead of complaining (like i usually do) i decided to do something about it myself. After like an hour or two most of the work was done, but i couldn't remove the dropshadow on the font. First i set out on a mission to change the code so that i could choose if i wanted shadow or not. When i got the code and everything was done i discovered that all i had to do was set the red color of the shadow to 0 in chatbubbles.xml.
The font has small spikes sticking out of it in random places. I don't know why and i don't know how to remove it, but if someone do - feel free to let me know what's wrong.

Here's a screenshot.

You can get the mod here, including a readme so you know how to install it.
Download link! (http://dudu.110mb.com/Bubbles.zip)

Hope you like it.
Enjoy!

Quick answer!
Thanks. Glad you like it (better than originals). I'm thinking about making a grey border for it too.

I like how they look now :) If you or anyone else would like to continue working on the chatbubble settings and create something really cool, we can see about making those the default options in the game.

I mostly did this one for me, and thought it turned out pretty well so i decided to share it here. So apart from fixinf this one to make it perfect i don't think i'll make somthing new and cool. Maybe if get a really good idea or someone motivates me and give me a hint on what to do.

I love the bubbles how they are now..... anyway, if those one get implemented in the future, I hope the current ones remain an option.

Actually i've got one of those really cool ideas i talked about before. I'll look into it tomorrow, and probably finish it shortly after since i have a hard time to do anything else until something is done.

can you make one to make the bubbles dissapear?

You can make them disappear if you open chatbubbles.xml and change every <chat> tag to a comment.

Or simply delete chatbubbles.xml

ah..that looks nice, I made some red ones by editing the hue/saturation of the png file...but I want to know how to make the text smaller.

as fast as i turned those bubbles off at first, as sudden i liked the look of your chatbubbles, Bastig. unfortunately when i found your thread here, that host was down.

i guess you have a new host now, yet it needs registration and as its danish, which i dont understand at all, thus i dont really fancy to register there.

is there any chance to get those nicely looking chatbubbles anyways?

If you open chatbubble.eff in notepad or something similar, you can set the font size in this line:

Quote from: chatbubble.eff
<obj type="text2d" fontsize="10" name="text" align="top">

I prefer size 8.

Thanks, Durwyn, highly appreciated!

Woops!

I completely forgot about all of this. I've been working on Peragro for a while not and haven't been that much on the forums.
I saw that you found a host for my bubbles. I'll put that link in my first post so that ppl can find it without reading through all the post. :)

Well, if you need anything let me know!
