I just install ps, and when i run "sudo /opt/PlaneShift/psclient" (I installed it as root so i could put it in opt) it gets to the character seletion, and i select my character, and then it load like 1/32 of the game and freezes,
I'm running Ubuntu 7.04 with an nvidia GeForce FX 5200, and the nvidia drivers installed, with 512 mgs of ram a 3.00 ghz proccesor(Intel Penium 4 with ht technology). Can anybody help???

run updater. There is a .desktop for it and for setup in the /opt/PlaneShift directory. I recommend copying these to the desktop or to your menu

you only have 512 ram? that might not be enough to run ps and anything else that might need ram at the same time ps uses a lot of ram.

I know i don't have much ram, and i already ran the updater, but i just deleted "up" because the updater couldn't update "up", but i guess up was the updater, so i will have to get up from somewhere else and put it back.. Any other suggestions?

512 MB is enough to run PS. Don't run any program as root unless you want that program to have root access. This mean no "sudo". I'm not saying that this will fix anything, just that you do not want to run programs as root. This is the major flaw with windows (or at least it was when I quit using it years ago).

If you haven't fixed your PlaneShift problem yet, try installing PlaneShift in your home directory.
Don't install it with sudo when installing in your home directory. Then run psclient from there.

Ya, i just installed it in a Games folder in my home directory, but now when i tun the updater, it says it can't update up
this is the exact output:

What does the last line mean????

It means that since you're running up (the updater), you can't update it (it's in use).
Just carry on and play PS. If you really, really want the new up, I'm sure you can get it, but it's not required to play the game.
I think you can trick it by copying "up" to some other name and editing the script "updater" to reference the new name. Then up will update up.
Then change everything back.

I updated the updater and the game, but the game still doesn't run.

are you trying to load all maps? if so uncheck that in pssetup

then can you add the rest of the console output to another post so we can see where exactly it is crashing

thats all I can get before it locks up, and if i lets it sit for a long time, the console closes, and the PlaneShift window closes, and i never get to see the whole output..
