Title: Learning Draghir (also no cancelling of quests)
Post by: Maju on August 04, 2007, 02:54:00 pm
I know where character I must go to. I'm possitive it's that one (he just fits perfectly in the Draghir (sp?) description)... yet even if I just repeat word by word what the Draghir chief asked me from him (I've tried in a zillion different forms to no avail, really), the NPC only says he doesn't understand. I think it's a bug because it just can't be that difficult to tell the guy what I need.

Also I can't cancel any quests. What makes it impossible to adhere to the rule of "one quest only", no matter how hard I try.

NO quest can be removed and you will not get quest help on the forum.

If they have under 10 posts, Xillix, they are unable to. In such a case you might want to send them a PM with your email address - or wait until they've posted enough.

I don't mean to get quest help. Just to notify that no matter what I try, the relevant character (I'm 100% sure he is) ignores me. He only replies that he doesn't understand me, nothing meaningful. I have the same problem also with Jayose each time someone sends me to ask for a book, so I have a bunch of quests unfinished and I'm starting to hate Jayose personally (can you hate an NPC?  ::|). Surely it's because whoever designed the quest had those NPCs to recognize only a very complex sentence and not the essential elements like "book", <name of the book> and <name of questgiver>. The case is that they are not finishable without knowing the exact combination of words the designer used (i.e. without knowing the exact phrase, what is impossible to find out by trial and error unless it's something very basic).

And I really thought that not being able to discard quests is a bug, specially because every time I log in the "server's MOTD" is "do not take more than one quest at a time", what is just plainly impossible unless you want to play for months trying combinations of words that maybe the relevant NPC might understand.

I have naturally started to accumulate unfinished quests (not just those but also the ones that are nearly impossible to do at my level, like getting 10 tefusang furs, etc.)... up to a point that it's difficult to find out the quest you are doing right now.

Well, I really wanted to learn Derghir language (it seemed fun) but the issue is not wether I (my char) learns or doesn't learn, ends the quest or not... but if the quest is doable at all. I think it isn't (same for the "pre-paid" book you have to bring to Laanx' priest... unless Jayose gets smarter).  ::)

Censor it if I'm speaking too much, but when the Dranghir chief paints a humanoid with pointed ears [elf] dressed in a gown and behind a spiral... there's only one answer. There's only one place where there are such spirals and only one elf in gown behind (or should I say "in front of"?) them. I can't remember his name right now but when I read the description of the drawing of the Dranghir (Azeroth?), I had no doubt as I had been in that same place the day before. When I found that there was effectively an elf NPC there and that, by description, he dresses in a gown, I had not the slightest doubt.

What is quite frustrating is to find the character (not easy, unless you have explored quite a bit) and then being unable to transmit him the message of the Dranghir boss, really, no matter what combination of words you try. It's like talking to a wall. I've done many other quests that imply transmitting a message and none were even remotely as difficult as the ones with this guy and the other with Jayose. I may had to change "his" by "the", "asks for" by "wants" or rephrase the sentence as a question... but these are beyond my abilities, clearly.

Hey Xillix, just to let you know, your profile shows your email as hidden, hence no one can email you about stuff if you never give it out to them.  And since a forum user has to have 10 posts before they can PM people, thats why you need to PM them, with your email so they can respond.  Or you can unhide your email addy listed in your profile like most of the mod and admin team has done so, so that people are able to email you about things.

Just for the record, both statements here are not true, for anyone who is reading this thread.

1. Just deleted A quest to get a quest item for use via RP
2. the beauty of PMs

There is NO WAY for a player alone to delete a quest so no that is not untrue

The quest about learning Derghirs' language works.
