Title: Stop the madness!!!!
Post by: DevotedEternal on March 14, 2003, 01:37:27 pm
To all fledgling guild leaders. Stop. When I, and any of the guilds of old, started my guild, it was a long a carefully thought out process. We had a constitution, website, and good starting memberbase before going public. Just another fool who discovered /makeguild, or whatever the command was, is not going to make it far. There are too many, way too many. Sure, we\'ll have alot of guilds.... guilds with ONE member. And no this is not a flame, just a venting of frustration. Please, join an establishes guild, or a reasonable new guild. Stop making your own. Thank you for giving me your time and listening to my rant.

the forsaken reminds me of an Daoc guild...
well some members won\'t join a guild before there is not something a guild could really offer, like members to party with, u can\'t influence people so better spare your nerves for more intresting stuff, don\'t worry there is some natural regulation...

Eternal no need to worrie you need 9 people to make a \'real\' guild in this game and the small guilds will die off.  If they manage to make thier guild \'real and last they should get some respect.  I agree with you their are a lot but dont worrie.

Title: no
Post by: DevotedEternal on March 15, 2003, 03:16:03 am
the only way that could have happened is if someone was on my account... the only person who knew my account pass (for crystal transfers) was my former second in command... he may have... at any rate i apologize for the kick

Hi pals,

the whole game still is in pre-alpha state, so I don\'t understand the excitement about new guilds. Since the game is still in developement, why shouldn\'t be its community ?

Since old DOS games this is my first computer RPG and my first online RPG at all, and its great as what I can see so far.

Maybe myself I was a little enthusiastic about joining a guild, but I can\'t see nothing bad about that, since I joined a new guild to participate in its uprising, in finding a way of enlightment, in setting up a web page and finding its place in PS.
And I\'d like as many of you to join as possible before those rules are set and it becomes hard to change them. I guess the goals and the way of a guild should be determined by its members.

In somepoint you\'re right the /newguild command (or which was ist?) may have led some of us into temptation, like the entire game tempted us to explore and to test everything. If thats was not supposed to be that way perhaps the command should have been deactivated or something.....

But finally I\'cant really see any evil in upcoming guild (except perhaps they\'re evil ones...;)), and so its dynamic process shouldn\'t be interupted.

-- take care --
   Kundalf

P.S.: That you get kicked by joining a guild or rejecting it is/was another bug I experienced myself..;)

Before you go and make another guild why dont you look at all the guild that are already around and see if there is one you like. Like mine for instance! ha ha ha :D

I must express my discontent with the wild allegations made at the \"former second in command\".  The \"former second in command\" did not invite anyone to join the guild and also did not have access to Devoted\'s account.  I can only see this as an attack on the \"former second in command\" for leaving The ForSaken Ones to join The Black Order and also as an excuse to shift the blame off from himself.  Please keep in mind that this is not a flame, I just want everyone to know the truth.

Zues.... this has nothing to do with you. I wasnt even speaking of you. I think you should be careful before making assumptions....

I\'m sorry, I didn\'t realize that there was another \"former second in command\" besides me.

there was.... i obviously had to replace you... the member i rplaced you with became too inactive to be second in command so i demoted him. now he is no longer second in command, hence the \"former second in command\"

its insulting to hear that you believe that i would be stupid enough to post somehting accusing you of something when i know perfectly well that you read the forums

and furthermore, id like to think that we are still friendly but apparently you dont desire the same thing....

As you see, the spoken event happened last weekend...when I was second in command.  This is what made me believe that you were referring to me.  Now you say it was someone that you recently had as second in command.  Your story doesn\'t follow suit.  And as far as being friendly, I am not trying to be mean at all, I am just trying to keep things clear.

ahhh....this is true, isnt it... then it must have been me... if so, i apologize Kiern. I\'m not sure why this happened, but, FYI, we don\'t just recruit random members. Here is our system:

Recruitment:

1. Anyone wishing to enter FSO may do so, as an Apprentice.

2. After 7 days as an Apprentice, the guild council makes a decision.

3. If the decision is to keep the new recruit then they are promoted to a low ranking class of the section they choose. If the council decides to reject the new recruit, they are immediately ejected from the guild, making room for new Apprentices.

So as you see, there is NO random recruiting. Just very loose recruitment to Apprentice class membership. Official guild membership is not so open.

Ok, I have a question, an honest to goodness real question. It\'s not meant as a flame or anything. But what is the point of making these guilds right now? Can they even do anythig? I mean, the game is still pre alpha right? What is the point of joining a guild... again cna we even do anything with them?

*sigh* ill answer your damn question..... \"Why make guilds?\" what else is there to do, quite honestly? The onlt things to do in the game at this stage is to collect crystals, and to build communities. Why is a final release needed to build community? Guilds, or atleast my guild, is here to get itself a foundation and active member base, full of community, before the game is released.... you can continue on with your way of thinking, but when it is released and you try to build a guild, you will not only be outdone by guilds of old, you will have one hell of a struggle getting a member base in the beginning of a game, people want to go out and explore on their own. By starting one early on then the guild gains power and publicity more easily since there is less distraction.... but anyways, im rambling on, probobly making very little sense, but o well.... i tried, lol.

NO, you made perfect sense... I was not saying I opposed that way of thinking... I just did not understand it. I agree with you now. I just did not undestand the reasons for making one, but now I do. Thank you.

yeah, this thread was getting a little personal...

btw, if you think there are a lot of nonsense guilds now, wait till the final product *sighs*

so I we all should unwind and take it easy for now. let them fiddle with all the \"bells and whistles\" because it will loose interest for those who aren\'t ready or willing for the responsibilities

bye :D
