i was just wondering last night while playing. What are the system specs of the current PS server? Is there more than the one computer serving? Has this information been stated in writing anywhere? I don\'t remember seeing it on the Planeshift page, but then I haven\'t looked much at the fragnetics page.

Not sure about the exact specs but the server is a linux machine with 1Gig ram. There is only one server.

The Fragnetics server runs Planeshift as just one of the many services we run using the same server. You might be interested to know that we use the same server for Apache, MySQL, QMail, BIND, and related web-services. On top of that there is a Battlefield1942 and a Counterstrike server running on the machine as well.
Currently although we\'re on 1G of RAM the PS server consumes about 250MB, which is by no means a major memory guzzler. CPU usage is reasonable, although I\'ve noticed that the popularity of Planeshift does push our server past the 10% CPU utilization mark when we were averaging 1% most of the time. This is a good thing, since wasted CPU cycles are lost forever.
I wouldn\'t think that it would require a strong computer to host a PS server, but perhaps a reasonable Internet connection would be required. Just moments ago it looked like we were averaging about 10KBps downstream and upstream. This might not be an accurate picture though as I\'m not armed with pure PS statistics and the 10KBps is consolidated for the entire Fragnetics server.
