Hey again. I'm a new player and have done 1 quest so far (the blacksmiths apples quest). Now I need to mine gold ore for the blacksmith (can't remember his name).
Anyway, here's my problem. I only have 20 tiars (sp?) and I need 100 to buy the rock pick. However, I can't get money by killing rats or any other NPC as they are all impervious at the moment (I know this is an issue with a separate NPC client)
So I was wondering, how would I get the extra money to buy the rock pick?

There are three main ways to get money:
1) mining/crafting (but you don't have a rock pick.)
2) killing/looting (but the npcclient is down.)
3) quests.
There are nearly 150 quests for players to participate in. I know they say that it's not advisable to do more than one quest at once, but if the only other one you have is the Harnquist Gold Ore one, I think it should be *relatively* safe to try another one. Ask around in game to see if anyone knows of quests that don't require killing or mining (and there are indeed several of those.) Good luck!

4.) roleplaying, often if a nice char come up to me asking nice or begging with a nice ic reason for needing tria I am happy to spare some

Aerianna Kzin is basically correct but I wouldn't call that a "main" way of getting money. Most people don't subsist on begging.

you do if your roleplaying a begger :P /me hides from Jeraphron

You can pick the apples near the smithy and sell them to someone who buys food.

Unless something has changed, apples are worth 0 trias, at least to npcs. But I doubt there are many players who buy apples... :-X

There are a few NPCs that buy apples at 1 tria each. Picking up enough for a rock pick takes some work, but is possible.

Thanks for all your helps guys. Eventually, after some kind people took me to some vendors, I managed to sell my animal parts ad bought a dagger, meaning I kill rats quicker and get more animal parts.
...This all since the NPC client came back online.
Also, I used a few apples for my health earlier, I didn't think anyone would buy them as they only restored my health by about 0.5%

Great!
Good luck and happy adventuring :)

Mushrooms are worth money to cooks.
