That sux.  Some one could just walk up and steal some great thing you just got.  You couldnt carry anything without worrying about losing it.  I dont think that should be allowed or there should be severe restrictions.

Most likely it will be reserved to stealing smaller items like gp gems and such but if not then there will be ways to catch them im sure also ways to protect your items better such as containers that close and such meaning they probably wont be able to steal an item that they know you have or some great weapon or armor that is equipped or that you have concealed in the very bottom of your backpack haversack knapsack whatever.

Unless they kill you of course :P or me eep

yeah but we could hire guards to guard our home and stash, that way low lever thievs wont be able to get inside..

and as stronger you are, the richer you are, the better stuff u have - the more temptation people have to try and steal from you - the more you will pay guards to guard your stash, and the stronger the guards will be.

Guards to guard our house is good, but no personal bodyguards pls 8) .

Oh and can I have a pet dog or something to guard my house instead of a guard? :))  :P

i think stealing should be possible but not large items just gems or coins. and stealing a sword or armor is stupid won\'t U notice when someone\'s stealing your sword i mean it\'s right at you side. And your armor U can\'t just steal someones armor that\'s lik stealing someone\'s shoes while he is wearing them!! and to steal U have to get upclose and if someone\'s staying close to U you just chop his head off!!!!!!!

Stealing any item should be possible, but there should be some consequences.  For instance, it is nearly inconceivable that someone could filch a large object (like a battle axe) without the owner knowing.  Something like that the game should automatically turn your character to the thief and attack with the weapon in hand or something like that.  An item in a backpack should be very hard to steal.  For instance, if you kept your money in your backpack in a pouch (not practical if you are in a market) it would be impossible to steal withou you knowing, because they would at the very least have to cut open you pact and rummage through the contents.

Also, not very many people learn pickpocketing to a fine degree, without spending alot of time in jail at least.  Perhaps that should be a penalty.  If you are caught stealing, the guards don\'t pound you into the ground, they grab you and hall you off to jail for some amount of time.  Anyway, some thieving skills should be hard to learn to a good level, and some should get bonuses in certain situations.  For instance, if the population of a given area is high enough i.e. a crowd  then pick pocketing should be much easier than otherwise.  Anyway, it would be nice to see something really interesting yet semi realistic in the game 8)

How about buying some sort of locks for your home, this would make it harder to steal something from it. And maybe magic protection for homes and backpacks.

I agree about that jail thing. And maybe we should be able if someone hase been to jail or something.

Else they can steal , get killed by the Guards and thats it. That isnt realastic

If you choose the path of the thiefs you shouldnt be able to be mister Good guy a few minutes later.

*looks angrily in Aragorn\'s direction*

it is plain to see that ye have not known of the Kendaro\'s character and in the ways that he speaks. the Kendaro doesn\'t do well with person perspectives. and before you nitpick on the Kendaro\'s use of thee correcting him to yee, know it is ye with one e.

(nitpicking to someone\'s speach is a quick way to get many on your case. people have their own ways of saying things. before you understand them, best not to try and correct what you do not know is already correct.)

Uh, yeah, what he said!   ?(

Filching items from a backpack is actually a lot easier than you think, unless the backpack happens to be made of some seriously thick leather.  A skilled thief could certainly slit the bottom of a commoner\'s pack, most likely unnoticed, due to the distance the pack is from the wearer\'s body.  It\'s tougher to get something out someone\'s pockets because of the proximity of the item to the person\'s skin, which makes it easier to notice (feel) when someone\'s messing with your stuff.

(Uh, not that I know anything about this kinda stuff of course...  ;) )

Personally, I sincerely hope thievery is kept to a minimum, or at least not made too powerful a skill in the game.  Nothing is more frustrating to me than to lose the money/gems/trinkets/magicky-whatsits I\'ve been working so hard to get to some lowlife who exists only to screw with other players.  Please, O Gods of PS, make it difficult to get away with when done to other players!

Anything should be posible to steal if not Guarded right.
Ofcourse Stealing a few Coins compaired to trying to steal someones Real Valued Goods should be a big Dif.

But there should be a big Side Effect if cought. Like if you are in a town and guard are near you can be tossed in jail, If you try to steal from a stronger person and fail and no guards are around. he could always attack and steal your Items in turn.

Might even be able to hire a private investigator to seek out the theft, But I that would mean makeing theft skills vary and if one is sloppy they leave clues around.

The above could be alittle to far fetched as I have never played an MMORPG and am Hopeing to start with PS.
