Title: skills not exercised?

Is it just me, or are we no longer gaining experience in particular skills?  I'm not, for armor or repairing weapons.  Please tell me I'm just confused!

If the npcs are broken and not fighting back you will not get armor practice. If yoiu repair a weapon and then run off the repair will be canceled and again no practice.

If you only make ingots, not stocks, your experience in crafting skills will not develop.

Whoops-- it was my mistake.  I get confused as to whether I need to train or exercise.  I wish there was a tooltip on skill status bars to remind about this.
