Title: skill boost for random job
Post by: Dihenis on September 15, 2007, 03:11:28 am
ok well i don't think this exact idea has been put up, i searched and nothing really conclusive came up. if this is too obvious for the wish list then go ahead and delete it, but i hope its good enough.

what i would like to see implemented is a random job skill chosen at character creation that would start off at level 3 or something. this is like in RL where you may have natural talent in something, like a musical instrument, or you have a special interest or aptitude for a job. it wouldn't be the same as the parent's job, because you would naturally learn that anyway, unless you want an extra few levels for that. it doesn't seem to be in either character creation.

I think that this already occurs from your characters past. For example, I started at level 3 in dark way and 0 in all the other ways.

yes but that's all based off events that happened to you, like you could be black flame and that would get you a dark way bonus. what i was thinking was that you had something that you had never encountered before in your character's history, and it would be easier to level, because you had natural talent for whatever job it was. of course i don't know how hard that would be to code so just +3 to a job skill would be close. maybe you would be quite a good alchemist but you never knew it, and now that you tried it you found out you were good. its just something that i think would make it a little more realistic

Your past is what makes you who and what you are. Your abilities at the starting point of the game being determined by your history is PERFECT.

Perhaps, more options could be added for more diversity, but I wouldn't want to see any change in the way it's done now.

(I never was a fan of randomness without reason.)
