I installed PlaneShift_CB_Mac_019a.dmg on my wife`s MacBook, but it failed to play the sound even if I can hear the passionate sound on my Gentoo box!
Can someone give me advice? Thanks a lot \\o//

as far as i know sound is not working on mac.
-
it works on mine...
-
Then could you share with us about how to hear the sound on MacBook :beta:
I simply noticed there are *.wav and *.ogg files in the ./art/sounds, and I vi the soundlib.xml with :%s/ogg/wav/g to choose *.wav, but it still can not play the sound :sweatdrop:
-
well...... :sweatdrop:
i'm not really sure why i can hear it...
maybe i'm special?

Open pssetup(.app) and see if sound is enabled (bottom left corner). Also check your volume (just in case!). If that doesn't work, then... it's probably a bug. Nothing to be done. :(
-
Yeah the sound initially never worked on mine, and then it randomly worked for a day and now it doesnt work anymore. I have a brandy new Macbook...but ive pretty much just accepted it doesnt work ;)

If I am not mistaken, you are experiencing a bug that is related to crystalspace, and not planeshift:
http://www.crystalspace3d.org/trac/CS/ticket/205
To verify this, just start PS with sound enabled, and see if you see any error messages resembling this one:
ALERT: crystalspace.sndsys.driver.software.coreaudio: Failed to set buffersize to 35280 bytes for CoreAudio output device. Return of 1852797029.

Hello,
I had initially some performance issues with sound enabled. However once I disabled the sound in pssetup.app I had a very important performance increase. Maybe there are some sound related issues specific to the mac ?!?!? :'(
-
Try headphones. I didn't get sound until I plugged in a pair of headphones.
-
I too have no sound from my brand new MacBook Pro. However, I tried Shadows idea about using headphones, and whadda know, sound! Music! Battle hits!
-
Does the MacBook Pro have speakers? If it has, then your system settings might be wrong.
-
Thom this is not a config problem as you can see here, it is a problem with CS we just have not figured out anyway to get sound to work though speakers on a mac with intel processor.

I had been playing it on a G5 with sound running alright. Then when I tried it on an intel iMac, it stopped. Is it something to do with the computer types?
-
there is a bug that affects intel based macs so they dont have sound working ingame.
