Hey guys, I'm considering playing again after about a year's time off. I'd like to start a character that I'm gonna feel at home with (still thinking of some lore for him) and just wondering what I can expect when I login again. Thanks. :)
-
Come to the dark side, we have cockies...
lol couldn't resist but hope to see ya ingame sometime :)
-
Nah, I don't like cockies. >.<
Sorry, couldn't resist either. :P
And I guess not much has changed, waiting for the servers to come up 24/7. lol
-
server up 24/7!? ::|
that's just wishfull thinking :whistling:
-
Err, think ya misread it. :P
I don't know how I could retype it, I guess I could say the servers are down pretty much all day and I sit here and wait for them to come back up. Hope that was a little better. >.<
-
hm i havn't noticed it's down so much recently kinda been stable most of the time
-
Huh, guess I came at a bad time then. :)
Alright, cya in game when they come back up (or if they're already up and my computer's just being fat, cya when I can get back on)
-
Typically the server is pretty stable. It still craps out occasionally, but in most of [those] instances, it's back up again in five minutes or less. (Though I can't help thinking Laanx has the worst timing on earth - like one of those dropped-call commercials)
As for the rest of it... well, guess that's up to you. I've been in-game for about a month now, I think, and I can't say it's been a bad experience at all.
-
Heh, well I'm screwed. Apperantly I HAVE to enter a last name now for my character, and if I try to use Mitaki's old last name, it says it's in use even though I long-since deleted him. Planning on doing a "son of Mitaki" thing, yet I cant' create the character. Joy. =/

What you can expect. Not biased, I came back a few days ago, but have been driven away to be honest.
I got in game explored and believe me I am genuinly impressed by the new content, I REALLY like it and I think its pretty damn awesome. The people are still great and still stick to RP characters, not much 1337 speak stringing around as far as I can tell. I probably would have played for a long time again, but to be honest the gameplay is so scrambled now that it's hardly worth it. The NPC client is down continuously, the seerver crashed continuously and when you do get in game don't raise your hopes, even at low times the servers ping and lag is like the Himalayas. its insane, The low tmes are frustrating enough, peak times just walng aroud or miving the camera seems to be like wading through semi frozen oil, never before have I encountered such an amazing display of lag. I play games that far more reflex action, where much more is going on at once, but I don't ever get this type of insane lag.
The new art, the community, the game in itself is brilliant so far, and I would have foundit very easy to get back into the swing had it not been for the soul destroying lag. Granted this is a Alpha version of the game but still, these are my experiances without bias.

Suno_Regin, you can expect a good attempt from the new players into role playing, role players that aren't pleased enough, hack 'n slash players that can be ignored and people that are looking forward to the addition of yet more good role players into planeshift.
The new fighting system that permits non lethal fights will certainly make the system yet more friendly for those who enjoy playing the fighting types, since it'll make it possible to roleplay a number of situations that were impossible before. Expect the Empire's help in exploiting this new feature!
The Bank System might provide a good way of people getting rid of their "mules", and therefore spending more time playing and less time swapping. Let's hope they use it wisely.
There's also the possibility of improving the in-game experience yourself! You'll see that there are plenty of players interested in having fun, as long as they aren't the ones coming up with ideas.
I'm sure you'll also enjoy the new book feature that they've implemented. I've seen people using it wisely, selling (expensive) books that sometimes do include some good information, or a fun way of spending some minutes at the expense of another's imagination.
And if you're still not sure, then try learning Enkien! And once you think you have it, go over the Felines Lair, you'll certainly find someone that can hold an enkien dialog with you!
Neither of this thrills you? Then join the Empire. There's always something waiting to be done there. What? I'm not selling anything, this is legal!

Heh, heya Sangwa.
The book thing sort of interests me. Are people selling books that they themselves wrote, or are they books by random NPC's?
-
Another suggestion: A queen still seeks a new king. ;)
-
Mm, all good. Right now I'm just worried about questing...seems NPC's aren't quite as dumb as they used to be, but I'm sort of at a dead end on a few quests. >.<
-
Don't take several quests at once.
And don't hesitate to ask people.
And: I like a few of the newer quests. Despite a few common issues -- the settings team did a good job.
-
I nearly have a full quest log. :)
Thanks to disconnects I now forget how to do half of them. Heh.
But yeah, I like these new quests, they keep me pretty busy.

They are selling self-written books, poems and even newspapers.
About quests ... the problem is that quests who overlap (read: involve the same NPC) tend to get screwed up. The server logs which quest you took up first and expects you to complete that quest first. A quest you've gotten later on but involves the same NPC won't be triggered until you finished previous quests with that NPC. This might be a pain if you still have quests from ages past in your diary :P

Hey Suno, long time no see ;D
I often wondered what happened to you. In my eyes, you were always a terrific story writer and one hell of a role-player
Welcome back :woot:

Hey thanks Pyros. :)
I wrote another story just recently...read over it and right away found a ton of mistakes I needed to fix. Dunno if it's alright now or not. :P

Seeing you back here and looking at todays date takes me right back to the days of Odessa *Sighs*
Anyway , I will look forwards to reading your new addition when you ready to post it of course \\o//

Actually I must agree. The Devs managed to make the new quests somewhat interactive, a bit logic, and reasonably easy to follow, without putting neon signs (or big yellow Exclamation and Question marks) above the NPC's heads.

Haha, nice sig. And yeah, I like the new quests, gives me more reason to play than walking back and fourth between Kada-El's and Harnquist's shop.
Edit: Leave it to me to put what I wanted to say right in the quote. =/

Welcome back, my dear.
Love to have a chat and catch up.
Blessed be.

I nearly have a full quest log.
Point to note: "nearly" is all any player can get in terms of quest logs. Some quests are mutually exclusive; that is, completing certain quests will prevent you from getting certain others. So there are lots to catch, but no, you can't catch 'em all.
Good luck all the same!

Heh, I forget what half of them are about...I always make sure to note what the quest person says, but for some reason it all got wiped. Does that feature even work? =/

I've been thinking of playing again too. Hmm, maybe start a new character. But I'm wondering... What's changed since I left? which was around April. What's new? What's been improved? Is the RP still as good at times and frustrating at times?
Anyway, I suppose I could answer thse if I loggedon, but it would also be nice before hand. :)

Gharan my friend you'll always have a home in the outlaws... we are working on spicing up the role play more and more... some new fellas have joined in the role playing community of planeshift... And we are converting more.
-
It's good to see alot of people still play from when I did, and I must say I'm dying to see what RP is buzzing round PS now. Now I just need to find some time to play, very busy recently. =/

life always comes first mate, I wouldn't be on here if I didn't have some free time.
But then again im involved in two mmorpgs... And I still have school.. a job... friends... and wow even after all that I somehow manage to have hours of time where im just bored...
Maybe I should devote some effort to the ps project... or at least learn some skills for it... dunno.
-
heya gharan, was cookin'? ;D
-
As far as role play goes I ran into a woman at the silver mine near Ojaveda who had supernatural halitosis. I just said "OK! Bye!" and continued on my way.
-
Supernatural halitosis? Like ghost breath? Thats... um, strange to say the least.
-
Hehe
Redacted Fixes her stare on the thing before her and smiles. Like a damp infested cave full of yellowy-green stalactites her jagged toothed mouth slowly forms a smile. She exhales a breeze of breath so noxious that distant tefusang growl in disgust.
Tell me my description was inaccurate! A marvelous descriptive passage even if it does seem a little out of context. She appears to want to be some kind of troll hag, Of course I never looked at her character description. I just asked what she was mining.
-
That is brilliant! Hilarious! I'd love to probe them for more.
-
Just so long as you don't look for a character named Redacted....It is a term to imply information removed.
Oh jees, I just revealed the name of my alt to her. hehehe.
-
I'd love to see one days worth of their logs. Hilarious.
-
right.
