i'm all around new to macs and I was just wondering how i download this game using a mac. i tried downloading it and when it finished downloading from bittorrent it tells me to find an application on the computer that would open the file. i don't know what application to use

The thing you downloaded is a torrent file. It tells a bit torrent client where to get the game. You will need to download a bit torrent client (the same is true on Windows, by the way). I recommend Azureus (http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/azureus/Azureus_3.0.3.0_macosx.dmg?download) (click the link to start downloading Azureus ;) ). Once you've installed the bit torrent client, just open the torrent file with the bit torrent client. It'll do the rest. :)
