Title: Performance on a 945GM?
Post by: Dahos on October 02, 2007, 12:23:24 pm
My Dell is a core 2 duo t5300 with 1gb ram and a 945GM, i know the chip will crunch this thing no problem, but i'm worried about how capable my graphics chip is.

What sort of performance will i expect with this setup?

Yeah... i'm using vista too :S (i know, i know...)

if the graphics chip has drivers for it that fully support OpenGL properly, there should be no problem.

They are GL compliant, but i'm more worried about the fact that it only has on board shared memory... it's a pretty slow chip too.

well planeshift has downloaded, i'm installing now so i'll post back and let you know how i get on.

Really? For what reason?

I noticed the screen on the updater flickers making it hard to see anything, also, the setup tool has no background, just a few bits of text on about half of the options.

Caarrie - don't put all intel graphic chipsets into the same drawer. There are different generations. The most current chipsets are more capable of displaying the game correctly, they may just need a little tweaking of the r3opengl.cfg file settings regarding GL extensions being enabled or disabled.

Actually, after updating to the latest *just released* intel drivers last night (i'm in New Zealand, so who knows what time that was for the rest of you) the game ran fine, i was playing for a while, didn't get much out of it with the AI server down....
