You stop in a shadow and look at the note you found again...
We know your heart. Meet us at the appointed place and time, if you have the guts to follow that dark calling in your heart. Drip three drops of your blood on these words, then burn the paper, and your destination will reveal itself to you.
Go to that location. Do exactly as you are told, or suffer a quick and painful death. Your dagger may become wet, but your purse will surely become heavy.
Make your choice.
You still do not know how this note got into your pocket. You do not know how they knew you. As you look at the note, you make your choice...
[OOC This is a Pre-Eclipse GM event. If your character is dark of heart, you will have found this note. If you do as it says, and want to play a dark part, PM us (Weavers) with your character name, and we will PM you back with the meeting location. The event will take place Wednesday, the 10th (today), at around or after 6PM GMT. That is 2PM Eastern Standard Time. Note: If you PM us, yet show up as a 'good' character, you -will- be killed. When given instructions, you will do exactly as told, or you will be killed. If you go OOC, you will be assumed insane, and you will be killed. Any who are late to the meeting will not be killed, but will be left behind. The forces of darkness are unforgiving.]
-
BLAH! Can't you make the event halfway workable for those in the USA? I'm in school at that hour :O
-
The idea is to make this one accessible to Europeans as the last one was in the middle of Sunday night monday morning
-
The game is international, don't be selfish!
This is a sanctioned event and not enough people have signed up, so please do.
Kaerli I am sure the event will still be running when the bell rings letting you out from school.
-
[How can your character show up "dark of heart" or "Good"? Is this based on your quests or RP? Id I'm asking stupid things, please knock me on the head]
-
Thats it! I'm going to start paddling now, and I wont stop until Australia is in the GMT timezone.
/me knocks Socius on the head.
RP I assume, hence the 'RP Event' :D
-
[The answer to that is simple. If you play a character that shuns the laws, or is a 'bad' guy all around, you will have the note. This is based on how you play your character, not on quests. 'Good guys' will not have the note. If you show up as a good character, and other characters know, they will point you out. Be careful in your actions and choice.
*addition You must PM us to get the location. And yes, you can invite your 'dark of heart' (AKA 'evil') fellows even if they do not read this thread or PM us.]
-
[I most likely won't be able to come because I'll be busy most of the day but I'll definately try and inform my guild members. Didn't know we could before so I didn't :sweatdrop: ]
-
[Hmm, that didn't go too well. People tracking you down by the location of your chatbubbles, attacking you because they can see your label while you're hiding crouched in a dark corner behind a barrel. Dead Enkidukais sprinted through the Death Realm to get back into the fight. Man, last time I'm doing a raid. The GMs actually prepared it well, I guess there's always some people to spoil the fun. At least the monetary reward was good.]
-
[*stuff thom said* and It's very hard to run with a char with end 45 through the Dr, from hydlaa to the 'secret spot' and be killed again when I was in a dark place and not moving :/ But it was fun beore that ! :D Nicely done!]
-
i'm sorry to say this i feel the outcomming was a bust tho the event was ok the ending left me so moody that i wanted to swear :-\
-
[elvicat, please PM us with your issues so that we can address them in future Events. They are made for your fun, and we would not want anyone to walk away feeling let down.]
-
nah it's allright, it was mostly that my connection glitched making me lag like crazy and some other small things that made me boil over but neather was your guys fault, good event none the less
-

Agree. Who dies (IC) should stay in DR at least untill end of event.
Or better, from 020, laying on ground wounded.
-
Pfft, I knew I'd miss it. Still I hope that there is another gm event for evildoers, hopefully next time I won't be busy.
-
@ Miaua. We did actually have a plan to keep the dead in the DeathRealm this time, but elected not to do it at the last minute out of consideration for those player's fun. We will not make that mistake again. We will strive from now on to keep the dead... dead longer, and out of the continued RP.
@ Duraza. Evil has not had much of a place, or a purpose in the past. That will change. There will be events that will continue to target 'dark of heart' characters, and, as you may have seen in the past few events, they will not always be set up as the losing side. Your time is coming.
-
Evil/Good aligned events are foolish in a game that doesn't have alignments. That's called incoherence. That's my way of seeing how PS works though, so don't let me spoil your fun.
-
Evil/Good are just simple ways of expressing concepts more subtle you stickler, this lawless lawful for this one and you are golden.
-
:(
1) Missed it.
2) Couldn't have attended due to $%&*ing internet connection during the week.
How was it?
-
Hey Xillix, I think I agree with Sangwa. No more Good vs Evil, Law vs Lawless, High morals vs Low, or good guys vs bad guys events, please. How about you focus on more realistic themed events?
Like Puppy lovers vs Kitten lovers.
Those that like Blue vs those that like Pink.
Mac clients vs Win clients.
RPers vs powergamers.
Those that think Good/Evil events are foolish vs those that know what an 'evil' event really is.
You know, the stuff that really matters, and makes a good story. :)
-
It wasn't exactly Good vs. Bad, Just some gang stealing stuff while another gang tried to prevent it....
Now for the gang that wanted to steal the stuff they needed some 'bad-asses' If I should assemble a thieves gang The best place to look is NOT some picnic spot, but a shady bar. Not that all the people at the picnic spot are 'nice' and neither that all the people in the shady tavern are 'bad-ass' But it's most logic ;)
Now they wanted people that could handle the 'job' which wasn't easy, so calling upon people saying "If you got the guts" is like calling out the best (though some think they are good in stuff while there aren't)
I hope I'm making sense, But it was NOT good vs bad. Else you weren't there I think or didn't pay enough attention or make a bit quick in drawing conclusions
And there was a story UTM ;)
-
What is more "good vs. evil" than the little boys' game "cops and robbers".
-
The main Issue I had with people was with having to have auto atack on kinda sucks..because then I don't know who is going to hit me when and what not, I like to hit accept so I know how many people are after me and so I am prepared to hit back...also I know some guilides complained about RP'ing snkeaing around and shut and everyone just ignored that and killed the player. I guess I am not much for run up and kill somone. I like to rp a bit first..It would have been more fun for me if somone would have come up to me and said "hault!" "who are you?" "what are you doing?" "put the item back" etc. But no, they see a rogue and run up and just kill them without a second thought.
But as far as the event, it was awsome. tons of fun and well thought out. I had a lot of fun, it sparked a lot of Roleplay for me as well. However I will admit I am guilty of retruning from the deathrealm..only once however... and I did not go back to where Iwas before..I just went on with my rp and got out and then met up with somone and changed out of my disguise.
anyways keep up the good work devs/Gms/settings team members it was a lot of fun!
-
Very fun event, I saw nothing wrong with it. Yeah I got pummeled but it was fun none the less... Great plot too! :D
PS: There will always be 2 sides... those who follow the law, and those who do not. There is no neutral.
im very much pro aligned events, and can't wait to partake in more. ;D
-
/me grins.
For those who missed it in my last post: /sarcasm.
Keep the 'evil' events coming!
-
I for one, thoroughly enjoyed participating in it... poor Lolitra, could have done with a few more guards about her... hehe.. got herself all covered in icky blood.. and sprained her ankle too-boot. Those dastardly awful ruffians.. blaggards I say.. nothing but dirty theives.. talking about dirty, she needs to wash off all that blood...

Thats good enough form me ;)

Read good books, you'll learn something. Wit is fun, but intellect surpasses it by being useful.
For those of you with less than no imagination, creating events without evil/good, lawful/lawless centers is interesting and quite easy. There are reasons that can be made clear and make the obvious "criminal" understood and "justified", contributing to more depth, no alignment magic and game coherence.
For instance a group of rogues that required the aid of an adventurer to distract the guard. They've been outcast from society for their errors and they attempt to make a living by others' expense. This particular time they've got a buddy trapped somewhere in hydlaa, where the guards have their patrolling doubled. Hence the help they require. They're not just looking for "Dark Souls" that can vanquish their foes of light. They have problems and they need help.
-
Sangwa if you are trying to take us to school you need to go back to it yourself. Judge not, we have much more going on than meets the eye, but then, you would know that if you were available :P. This discussion can be carried out internally if you were a prospect you would know tha. . . wait! You are one!
So come back to us and prove your intellect within the team.
Levi Strauss would hate your relativism :P.

I have a couple of characters that might have been deemed 'dark of heart' but at the same time they wouldn't go and steal things. Thats a problem I'd see with the factions. A guy promises my greedy character a large reward for running a simple chore. He goes and does it purely for the money, maybe even to fund some dastardly plans of his own, and suddenly he is aligned with good. There are just too many dimensions in this and Sangwa is just saying that you should take them into account.
-
You are not "aligned with good" in that case, you have won some admiration from that npc and others like her.
The idea that we do not take this into account is fairly insulting, as is the idea that we do not read enough good books.
There is no need for you to defend Sangwa I am not chiding him, I am giving him a friendly nudge.
-
I'm not defending him, I was just agreeing. I guess now I have a better understanding of it then. Didn't mean offence.
-
Parallo, you don't seem to understand the faction system. Your character is not changed one bit by the factions. Factions are how others see you.
Example: You play a bastard who would sell his own mother if it would get him a few tria. However, You don't want to have a bad image for some odd reason (girlfriend, maybe?), so you donate to the orphans every week. Even though you are still a low life scum, the people who know that you gave to the orphans will think highly of you.
+faction to Orphanage.
However, the bad guys you hang out with (AKA rogue type NPCs) might think this is a sign of weakness.
-faction rogues.
These ONLY change how NPCs will talk to you. It has nothing to do with what your character thinks.
This is as simple as I can put it: Factions=NPC's opinion of you. Affect on your actions=0
Sangwa: You don't have a clue. Seriously. You don't. Ask folks about what actually happened IN the events before you cast your 'wise' judgment.
-
I understood it UTM. Xillix summed it up. But anyway, the matter at hand, to be honest I still think that the dark of heart thing is a bad way to go about it. Granted, I wasn't there but from what I heard it was for a very specific low life type of dark at heart.
-
True, I was thinking about some evil conspiracy, but we just had to do a robbery.
-
I can comprehend that there's much more than meets the eye, but I can't speak of what I can't see. And what I can see is a scene where dark hearted people get magic notes in their pockets.
I'm not claiming this RP can't be fun, well thought and even complex. I'm claiming that the way chosen to go about it seems shallow and alignment focused.
See? I am fully aware of the clues around me.
EDIT: Slight changes to wording, fixed some sentence issues.
EDIT:
Don't worry, if I ever get past being a prospect, you'll get plenty of chances to criticize my work. I'll be sure to try and make it fully available for that.
-
Well so far I have been in two events that call for the "Dark" of heart so to speak. One was the Dark Wanderer event and the other was the robbery event mentioned. I personally disliked both for different reasons.
The Dark Wanderer event was great in that it actually had someone walk around and approaching people becuase he needed a job done. This seemed like a very realistic way to start an event in my eyes. I definately hope to see this more often :). However the event itself was "running to the north gate, waiting, listening, running to Bronze doors, waiting for everyone, listening, running back, looking around a bit, running back to Bronze doors, listening, running back to Hydlaa. There was no real story and people who were part of the Guard of Honor and such actually helped someone like the Dark Wanderer no questions asked eventhough the mission was worded rather fishy. There was also no mention of the reward besides the general "riches" (2000 tria is riches aparently :S) making myself wonder why my character was even doing what he said. Just to many people there to make an RP of it I suppose.
The robbery I walked in on but the note seems a bit fishy you have to admit if noone like the Dark Wanderer is even involved. Further then that the evet was pretty fun eventhough it didn't have a big story. Would be more interesting if one wouldn't have so much lag and escaping wouldn't be so gamemechnic instead of RP though. But thats my opinion of events in general ;) The mass makes good RP kinda hard.
-
I feel that this has all been a miscommunication and I hope others see it the same way so that we can go back to being friends.
My personal opinion is that labels such as good and evil actually get in the way of subtlety. However, people may use them while in character, and they can be convenient despite the tradeoffs involved.
