Title: Problem directly after logging in
Post by: Elacia on October 17, 2007, 09:37:45 am
After I log in,  I can't do anything. This is what comes up when I log in.

I didn't run the updater as I know it's broken, but it's the same as if I did, only no error message. Additionally, it doesn't show this in the screenshot, but the platform shown in the middle has bits suddenly disappearing and reappearing.

Does anybody know what''s wrong?

Sorry to be a nuisance, but I know little of computers. how do I find out what drivers I need?

Edit: Graphic drivers already up to date, I'll now uninstall and reinstall

Edit 2: That didn't work either. Is it something to do with the fact I'm on Vista? I've heard it's incompatible with some games.

I basically have the same issues. I can log in and actually get to the game, but once I am there, it knocks me completely offline ( I am on dial up, but going to broadband tomorrow) I am hoping that this will solve the issue. Is there anything else that I should be checking? I have the .020 installed. I just can't do anything once i get to the game, and everything seems dark, nothing ever completely loads before I am disconnected. Any suggestions at all will be helpful, and I look forward to the site  being completely up to par, I love the game!!! Great work !!

You'll need to see what type of video card you have in the computer, and then go the the manufacturer's website and check to see if their are new drivers out for your card.  PS use OpenGL as opposed to ActiveX, since ActiveX is not cross platform.  With Vista, MS tried to say that we want everything that will run on the OS to use the ActiveX technology, becuase they owned it and would make more money that way.  And for all software using OpenGL, it would be emulated through ActiveX (which doesn't work well) and they would not support OpenGL natively.  Bright side, is that most major video card manufacturers didn't buy into that, and developed drivers for thier cards that do support OpenGL natively under Vista, hence I suggest to check your video card makers website for updated drivers.

Another option is to install the Win XP vid card drivers, as they should handle OpenGL just fine.  Drawback to this method is you lose the spiffy "prettyness" that Vista can only do if you have the Vista drivers installed.
