Title: Graphics testing
Post by: Xordan on October 17, 2007, 06:41:04 pm
Hey,

I need players to a little bit of testing for me. Instructions are below, I want people to only post replies with the information I need.

Open your psclient.cfg
At the bottom there are three lines:

Video.OpenGL.UseExtension.GL_EXT_texture_rectangle = false
Video.OpenGL.UseExtension.GL_ARB_texture_rectangle = false
Video.OpenGL.UseExtension.GL_NV_texture_rectangle = false

I want you to remove all three lines.

Open psclient and play around for a bit. If your client does not crash, reply to this thread with your graphics card name and model, and OS. If you know your driver, add that too.
e.g. No crash on Geforce 7950GTX, Running Windows XP

If it does crash then add the first line back to the bottom of psclient.cfg
Try running psclient again.

If it doesn't crash, reply to this thread with the line you added, and the graphics card name and model etc. as said above.

If it crashes, add the second line and try again.

If it doesn't crash, reply to this thread with both the lines you've added, and the graphics card name and model etc. as said above.

If it crashes, add the third line and try again. It will not crash this time, so reply to this thread with all three lines you've added, and the graphics card name and model etc. as said above.

Thanks.

Does the config file support the use of # to indicate comment? Is there some other method to disable the particular line other than by removing it? what about // or /* ... */ ?

; I believe is comment. So doing that is acceptable too if you have trouble with copy/paste ;)

No crash, NVidia 7900 GT, 64-bit Fedora 7, driver 100.14.19.

But...
In many (or most) cases removing those three lines does not change anything, because gldrivers.xml disables all three settings anyway (all ATI cards ? NVidia on win32 ?). So, it would be better to change "false" to "true"... (unless the only intention is to find more cards which require disabling texture_rectangle extensions).

Removed all lines -> crashed.
Added first line -> crashed.
Added second line -> crashed.
Added third line -> worked again (of course :P).

[Each crash happened when I opened the spell book.]

System specs: Linux, Ubuntu Feisty 32bit, GeForce FX 5200 with the latest Nvidia drivers.
