Title: Customizable graphic settings?
Post by: Srenkarth on October 18, 2007, 04:42:15 am
It'd be really nice if there was some way to tone down the graphical quality and, for instance, make the lighting less complicated or, I dunno, change the texture complexity... Because for me, the game used to run pretty fast, but now sometimes it's just... really, really, slow. Just at unexpected times, too; not all the time, I mean... Anyway, my best bet is that it's related to graphics, and the coolest thing ever would be if you could just, say, remove all textures and lighting temporarily (leaving the game looking completely nasty but at least you could know where you were going?) just so you can get through the area you're having problems with, because while that sounds really stupid, it's like... otherwise, you're totally stuck. So, um... yeah.

That can be done with planeshift settings program but not from in game.

Observant, aren't we?

Check the Planeshift folder in your Start menu.

Kind, aren't we?

My main point here is that in-game changes would make it very convenient, so you could turn stuff off and then turn it back on once you got to a less graphics-intensive area.

I have great confidence that those features will make it into the final product. The issue is that there are still some internal issues with the engine running smoothly as is, so being able to change those settings on the fly in-game would bring several hundred more bugs than the team is already dealing with.
