First that link is unavailable to me, second have a quick search in this forum there are several Ubuntu graphics problems mentioned and it could also be if you have an onboard intel graphics chip

Upload your picture to imageshack or photobucket.
There's too much pay-site crap going on with the host you picked.

Font multitexturing might be broken. Try this:

Open the file Planeshift3D/data/config/r3dopengl.cfg with a text editor, and find this line:

Code: [Select]
Video.OpenGL.FontCache.UseMultiTexturing = yes
Change "yes" to "no" and try again.

I've edited the file, but it doesn't work.  :(

If it can helps you, there is the log :

Well I have nearly the same log, but my fonts are displayed correctly. Are you sure you edited the correct line and saved the file before you closed it?

However, if this still won't work, I don't know what to do either. Maybe re-install Mesa via your packet manager (Synaptic), but I have doubts that Mesa is the problem here. According to http://vaalnor.mine.nu/psdoc/?q=node/39, there is a 2nd solution:

Quote
Font multitexturing unsupported by current opengl git version, try the following:
Update your current version of opengl git either through your package manager or manually.

But I've looked for opengl git in synaptic and tried to get it through the terminal, but found nothing. :-\

I can think of two things that could interfere:
1. Composite mode isn't enabled. "glxinfo | grep direct" should return "direct rendering: Yes"
2. Beryl/compiz  soaks up a lot of OpenGL resources and should be turned off.

I don't have a lot of experience dealing with font issues in CrystalSpace, but I have run across issues like that in other programs, and those points were wrenches in the works.

Code: [Select]
$ glxinfo | grep direct
direct rendering: Yes

Ok... I restart my computer without Beryl.

Hi,

I have the same problem.

My card is an ATI Radeon 8500LE - not an onboard Intel one. My window manager is simply FVWM. glxinfo shows that I have 3-D direct rendering. System is Gentoo. Planeshift installed from binary.

Any ideas?

Did you try this?
Font multitexturing might be broken. Try this:

Yes - it did not make a difference.

No - FVWM

Upgrading to the latest mesa did it for me.

No - FVWM

D'oh, I should pay more attention when reading.

Upgrading to the latest mesa did it for me.

That would have been my 2nd suggestion ... maybe ... after a while. ;) The 1st would have had to do with Kipi, KDE Image Plugin Interface. Totally unrelated, but that's what my console got me when I typed

Code: [Select]
sudo apt-cache search opengl git
Thought it might still be related ... somehow. Hence my redunant question for if you're using KDE. Now I'm still clueless about that darn opengl git thingie. :surrender:

Maybe Induane could enlighten me. :flowers:

Hello,
I've been having the same issue recently on my Gentoo box. Updating Mesa from 6.5.2-r1 to 7.0.2 did the trick.
