Who uploads the files to the updater and why have they not been uploaded yet?
And yes, I am on dial-up, and no I will not redownload the whole game over again. If the answer I get is a big fat "no", then this is the only large-sized game (free or pay) I know of that requires users ot redownload the whole thing without a patch option.

The devs.
Because they haven't had a chance to do it yet, or because the entire updater program is in a code overhaul atm.
And welcome to alpha development.

Alright, they haven't had a chance to upload it yet, but I don't see how the latter explanation works. Anytime the devs work with the code, they do so with a private CVS version testing on a closed server. However they are working on the updater, it doesn't affect what's currently there. Or am I wrong?

You know what? Whether you should or should not have to download the full client, the reality is that you currently do. Instead of wasting the last few weeks of your life complaining about how the updater doesn't work yet, you could have download the full client many times over, even on a dial-up.
Now if you want to hold out for the updater just based on the principle of the matter, then that's your choice, but don't bother the rest of us. We're too busy enjoying all the wonderfulness that is PS 0.3.020!

I like Planeshift, enough to play it regularly, but not enough to re-download the whole thing. That's all I'll say to this.

What you could have done is start the download then, instead of spamming the forums about how you don't want to download, go read a book or something. You'd have been playing long ago at this stage.
