Title: NPC Actions Work Only Once
Post by: xevix on October 26, 2007, 09:02:02 pm
I'm in the tutorial and I right click an NPC, and can choose the talk option.  Then I go to the next NPC, and no matter how much I right click, nothing happens.  I have to restart the game to get the options to pop up again.  Is this a bug?

I don't think so, although I do sometimes have trouble right clicking, sometimes it takes a while to fin an objects "sweet spot" as I like to call it. You don't actually have to right click them to talk to them, just target them and type in the NPC tab.

Oh, this also is happening with the furnace, and I can't figure out how to use a text command to interact with the furnace.

You can also use several / commands if you encounter difficulties (due to low broadband ? due to server slow answers ?) :
- to select a NPC : /target next npc
- to open the set of icons : /target_context

If necessary, you can add them to your shortcuts list in order to make them quickly available (select next npc is already in the list).

Yeah, that's what I was forced to do, but "target context" wasn't working on the furnace.  I don't think it's a bandwidth issue, I'm on a T3 and otherwise the server has snappy responses, such as with NPC chat.

If you are not close enough to your target you will not get the context menu even if it is selected. For instance if you are standing in front of the smith the furnace is too far to get a context menu.

True, but I've tried on the new mac beta version, and it even works there, and not in the linux 64-bit version.  That makes me suspect a very particular problem.
