hi.
i want to learn magic, but i am level 0 in all ways. i gained all the theoretical knowledge (crystal and azure) and got a crystal glyph from a quest. but it's impossible to research a spell, it will fail and drain health.
now, do i need some other (easier?) glyph, shall i hope for my luck and repeat trying or is it just impossible to research a spell at level 0 (and learn magic)?
thanks.

The glyph you have been given as a reward is likely to require a higher skill level or a combination of glyphs.
You can buy glyphs from Levrus (at the magic shop) for a reasonable price and all those are researchable with trained lvl 0.
In your case those would be Air for Azure Way and Arrow for Crystal Way.
-
alright. thanks for the fast help!
-
Also, a simple mistake I continually made was that I'd click on the glyph and click on research. You should make sure it is in one of the four boxes above the options to research, combine, etc.
-
what about red way? which glyph to use for starting that?
-
fire glyph also from Levrus at the magic shop
-
tried before and couldn't get a spell...so i just sold the glyph back.
-
hmm.. im sure fire glyph is the starting red way im certen have you train red way fully for the therecical part?
-
I know it is. You must be making some sort of mistake in the method.
-
Last time I checked, if you just have the bare minimum skill to learn a spell, sometimes when you research the glyph, it still fails. Seems to me that possibly it did fail even if all the skill was there but, would have (hopefully) worked eventually.

didn't work the first, second or third time I tried to research the glyph...until I asked on this post and then it worked after I bought it. YEY.
/me fumes about murphey's law...

I have a fire glyph and redway training, but I can't reserch a spell. Just keep trying?
-
there seems to be some sort of bug, i had it recently when trying to get two spells that i knew were there, spamming the research button does not seem to work, but trying it out every now and again does
-
Perhaps people with very small intelligence stat have less chances to be successful when researching a spell, meaning that you have to try many times before you find it.
-
I learned the hard way you have to make sure the glyph is dragged on top of the purify button first and foremost... once it says it is purified, then move it to a lower box and research it. This has worked every time with me... now I am trying to find a way of what combination make what spell.
-
How do i level up intelegence? is there an NPC to train it?
-
Yes. Several, to be more exact - NPCs train a certain range of skills or stats, then you have to find the next better teacher. Maybe in another town or "location"...
Do not ask in this board which NPC trains which level of which skill. This is in-game-only information. But I am pertty sure that most of the more experienced characters can tell you a suggestion who your character should ask.

I don't think that's a bug. Deiscovering a spell, even when you have the right glyph and level, involves luck. And spamming the button doesn't work, you have to try like every five minutes, and you'll get it eventually.
-
that is what i said.
thing is it must been a bug since it would make searching for spells take insanely long

There may be some balancing issues there. Since there are more of those issues, it makes more sense to look at those when magic in general works a bit better, which probably is somewhat later than soon(TM) :)
