So we want to run some sort of contest, but we were curious what you would like to see most in a contest. Most of these will happen anyway but players' thoughts are important.

Personally I'm most attracted to the "Build an NPC" contest because that's something I can do myself ... were it not for the rather limited knowledge about settings. So I voted for the music contest. I won't be able to contribute there but I love some of the music PS has so far and would really like to hear more.

Players would probably have about as much as they need to make an npc. I made them with much less than is now available to the player. :)

Besides, I'm sure that if that contest came around Xil would give a quick explanation.
I voted for Short Story because I really enjoy player writings and would like to see them do it with some assistance from the devs in respect to the settings...

I'd love to see some posters... make for some good PR, get new players. maybe also some posters aimed at getting contributers around college campuses.

since the other out of game events were modeling events id like to see something diferent.. voted for short story because it seams the most accessible one

I may be a bit bias...but tshirts seem to be the next-best thing to posters for getting the word out. It doesn't even have to have teh PS logo...but like a saying everyone knows and finds funny...like red vs blue's blarg....
sure ingame is important too, but how are you going to spread the word about this awesome new game if you don't...have...the...ads...for...it...?

I voted for Player made event contest. I think it would inspire alot of people to get into the roleplay and realize that they too can do events just as much as Gm's can. It would only do good for the game, and create a whole lotta fun!

How about a spelling contest? :-) Talad once told me that PlaneShift is spelled with a capital S unless he's typing too fast.
Seriously, I think a music contest could be interesting, so that's where my vote went.

I hoped for a GUI skin contest. But this has of course nothing to do with skin I once started and which is almost finished by now. :whistling:

I went for the Short Story simply because it's the only thing I could participate in. In all honesty, however, I don't think it would necessarily be the most interesting or beneficial to the game/community.

Uhh, can't we do that already? :P I've never let having no GM powers stop me from creating events and things. Besides there are several friendly GMs available if you'd need their help running an event.

Well umm... I have the sound file for bronzedoors.zip made up on my computer, just need to wait until the release for it to be included in the world file ;)
But that only uses existing sounds used in other maps too, no new background music or anything... but it will be easy to change if we ever get any more.

You can't toss player's characters off a bridge or run around as tloke without an approved event. ;)

Yes, I suppose we can. I know I have done a few events myself without Gm help but ... I was thinking for the more inexperienced. They would get a reward of some kind and it would be incentive for new players to try. Until they do try they won't understand how rewarding in it's self it is to make player events. We hardly see player events unless it is from player who has been established in the game for some time.

T-shirt design, I haven't considered it until now, but when I think about it, having a planeshift T-shirt would be awesome.

I haven't seen any lately, but right around the release of 0.3.020, there was a set of in-game song/storytelling/poetry contests. I think the prize was 4 Circles for the best one. Was fun to hear some of the stories
