Title: Converting the models for use in other modeling programs
Post by: thelastalive on December 08, 2007, 07:35:29 am
I'm not sure if this is the right section, and if it isn't please forgive me.  I want to convert the models used in the game for use in some other widely used modeling applications.  Its been hard to find information on the subject, so I've come straight to the source.  Not sure it is aloud to play with the content like that, even if its for personal use and you don't redistribute.

There is no way to convert the characters to any format that is usable unless you have access to the orginal files, and Talad only gives them out to people working on the models on his development staff. Unless you find a way to code a program to do the conversion for you there is no way to do what you want and no way to get what you need to do what you want.

Although Planeshift is fully GPL, the art is not. This decision was made to keep Planeshift-as-a-game unique. You can use Planeshift-as-an-engine freely (albeit according to GPL rules), however.
