I remember when I was young here in PlaneShift and everything was confusing. As a matter if fact it took me two weeks to get out of the Death Realm in the beginning. I was seriously thinking of giving up. I did not know about the forums nor IRC. Not knowing what to do because I wanted to play I thought to ask someone in the DR to help me out. He went slowly and even explained things to me as we went. So not only did this daunting maze, that I was learning to hate, turn out to be a place I learned to negotiate but it turned out to be an interesting part of the game. I am glad I stayed because it is really a great game.
Two things happened for me from that point on:
1) I learned that my fellow players were my best source of information to learn about the game.
2) I made friends.
I feel badly for all new players that come in game and have no idea what to do. This was my first on line game and I was totally in the dark about it completely so I understand. My best advice to all concerned is asking the characters around you in game. You see we are not allowed to give you the answers to your questions here in the forums. So try to ask your questions in a role-play manner so that you fit in. In other words do not say, “Hey man can you get me out of here?” Instead try something like this, “I have just arrived and I need assistance, can you help me?”
Another example:
I remember being in the sewers with an experienced player and we got lost down there. We ran around and talked and just had a great time. It made for a great role-play. To this day I am a still friend with that player and that was about a year ago. So even the frustration of getting lost can be fun.
