i wondering if its just me getting very high ping, most of the time i get around 300, 500 max now for some reason its constantly at 1000
-
File sharing tools in the background can bring the PING down to multiple times the usual duration.
If the internet backbone providers chose a different route to Singapore, or if your ISP throttles specific kinds of connections, this can be another reason.
Also resetting the DSL modem/router can help, they are able to "get stuck".
If you want to discover which part of the connection is the slowest, try "tracert" or "pathping".

What's your internet connection speed? I've got residential DSL and usually ping 200-300...
-
i wondering if its just me getting very high ping, most of the time i get around 300, 500 max now for some reason its constantly at 1000
not offen some one gets to quote them selfs...
read careful and it will see this is an inreguality :)
-
Too bad.
A part of the network you are located in seems to block tracing the route.
Up to that part, the path is average fast. So the slowdown is either a horribly complicated route afterwards (outside GB), or a throttling of specific "unusual connections" by your ISP (e.g. noone needs UDP much while just surfing the web).
-
Hey Tanner, yeah I am having the same issue myself...I used to get like around 300 and now I get 800 and up...so I guess your not alone..
-
Your ISP might have remembered that you didn't pay an extra fee for the "FastPath" option (which some DSL providers offer).
-
I am not sure....however I've not noticed more lag or anything..
-
is there anything i can do to fix this problem?
-
It is not your fault. So you may not have much influence.
I won't recommend you ordering the FastPath option (expensive), or changing the ISP (which is hardly a matter of only one season in some countries).
-
asuming this problem is on my side what could i do to find that out and fix it?, at the moment sitting here and doing nothing is not fixing the problem
-
Wrong assumption.
Clearly.
You see, the major ISPs and backbone providers in your region or country (broadband.bt.net, broadbandscope.net, uk.above.net) have a fast connection with less than 50 ms on average. But from there, the route to Singapore seems to be the problem.
Did you ever hear of pirates stealing glass fibre cables from the ground of the seas, and selling the glass fibre? -- Vietnam was almost completely chopped off the internet last year. Then some transcontinental cables have a bad quality and need to get repaired. And so some providers had to search for bypass routes, which are not so efficient anymore.
-
what ever the problem was it was sloved by 0.4
now suddenly it has come back
