Alright. I can run the updater, and setup applications fine. But when I turn on the planeshift game application, I never even see the beginning of the program. It turns on, windowed, completely blank, then shuts down, with an error. Here's my specs (http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php?topic=19149.msg358123#msg358123).

@Cha0s: I didn't run the updater. But it turned on fine, unlike the planeshift application.
@Caarrie: I tried that. v.v No dice. In fact, I tried it before I posted, just to be sure.

if you load the client in terminal or look at console output what do you see?

I don't load the client in terminal, because frankly, it confuses me. I don't get any console output, if I understand what you mean. And then again, I probably don't. Where do I look for how to load it in terminal? Sorry for being ignorant in this area of knowledge.

If it crashes even before you can choose your character.
You can try to load it with Sudo and enter your password.
like:
sudo /Applications/Planeshift3D/psclient.app/Contents/MacOS/psclient_static
I was a normal user before, because of this I made my self a admin even this didn't work, also not
giving me all the permissions available. After playing around I was only able to start it correctly using
sudo. Or login as my first created admin account and from there I can just launch it the normal way.

Run DiskUtility and Fix Permissions. That should make it work on your second admin account. If it doesn't, tell me, and there's something else we can try.

That means, it was the elves skin that caused it, aye? The <src/common/paws/pawsimagedrawable.cpp:56 PreparePixmap>, right? So, change the skin, maybe?
EDIT: Umm.. I proved myself wrong. I just changed to the default skin, and it still happened. >_>

I have an identical error to the one Net_Creator is experiencing, even though that is to be expected. Until this works, I should probably stop tempting myself with eye candy of PlaneShift :sweatdrop:

Run DiskUtility and Fix Permissions. That should make it work on your second admin account. If it doesn't, tell me, and there's something else we can try.
I did tryed this as first thing, second thing I found I didn't had access to /logs, althru I fixed this I still have no luck.
But I'm fine running PS from the command line, and have no further bugs. It works very stable.
White Bomber: It will be helpfull if you post your System specs in here aswell. If you have the same specs as Net creator, I may can get this type of mac shipped over to test with you guys.

@ Cha0s: I'm not an administrator account, and I don't have access to one, but I have full writing and reading privileges in /Documents, where my Planeshift3d folder is located. Does that make a difference?

just because people did reply does not mean these people have the knowledge to read the crash log and decide what caused it or even fix it. And if we were able to fix it, and code changes were required the fix would not be in till the next release.

May I ask for an estimate of about how long that usually takes? Also, if I can see a normal log of the initiative for a Mac OS X 10.4.10, I may be able to determine what caused it. I'm no master programmer or anything, but I just may be able to tell.

right now a release could be a few months away, so waiting for a fix is along process unless the bug is a local issue. Also i dont think a new coder that has very little knowedle of ps could even start debugging an issue.

Yes, being an admin does matter. Planeshift writes to some files not in its directory (which it shouldn't do, but it does). You must be an admin (preferably the first admin user created).

right now and this is fixed in the comming release /logs and the directory where you have ps installed

I believe I may have writing access and reading access to /logs.

Try logging on as the primary admin and see if it fixes the problem. If it does, we can see about fixing permissions afterwards.
