Title: Windows Vista and some trouble?
Post by: AryHann on January 14, 2008, 08:02:11 pm
Then, follow this procedure!

1. open planeshift client properties menu (right click on the client)
2. change user settings by clicking "edit" and allow all users to have full access
3. click compatibility tab, and on the pull down menu select Windows XP Service Pack 2 or any operating system that may work if XP is not available. You must click a check box to do this. Then click ok and it should work

Thanks to Jate for the help :-)

I got it to work by choosing 'run as administrator'.

alot of problems with games and windows Vista can be solved by downloading a graphics update from the mircrosoft website http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=a156e265-40ff-468e-bba2-3d1e1929c416&DisplayLang=en (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=a156e265-40ff-468e-bba2-3d1e1929c416&DisplayLang=en) that and running the game as an administrator should bypass all firewall settings.

Welcome "on board"...

When a program "crashes", it is interesting to know how: With or without dialog? With any memory address? With the offer to save a crash dump?

Ok... seem to get random crashes. 1 time I got the chance to make a dump, 3 times the c++ runtime told me he was stopped in an unknown way, 3 times I crashed without any message or possibility of making a dmp-file. Not sure if this issue has to do something with movement, but surely with the graphics. When I turned off the vertex buffer object, it seemed to work for about half a minute, than crashed without a warning. Gave it a second try than and crashed immediately.

Did you run the updater?
