I had just been told by the blacksmith to go as Miss Amelia about a book about blacksmithing when the server disconnected. Now when I try to ask Amelia about the book (tried asking several different ways too) she gives me the "about x or give me y" message. I tried going back to the blacksmith and saying "Miss Amelia sent me" (after saying "Hi" first and getting a normal reply from that) again but I just got the "I don't understand" message. So then I tried starting over from the very beginning when I said "Hi" to amelia. She replied normally, like the first time, with the message that has "give me a quest" at the end. But then, this time, when I said "Give me a quest" like I did the first time, she just gave me the "about x or give me y" message. Soooo, I'm pretty much stuck. I'm thinking I might just delete my character and make her again since I didn't get that far yet, but I'm worried that I'll get disconnected again next time so I still want to know how to fix something like this.

did you try to say this sentence at Abelia?

check the logs in the logs directory of planeshift it will give you an idea what neave is looking for as a responce and what the last thing they said was.
