Im new in this game and few days ago I found some Ulbernaut claws at the ruins. Nobody was there, so I thought it was just some randomly spawned items, so I took them and sold them at Kada-El's. Now I know that these things dont spawn randomly, so they probably belonged to someone, who was hunting Ulbernauts there. I'm prepared to refund the original owner of those claws with trias(because I'm not able to take down Ulbernaut). Reply here, or try to contact me ingeme as Buther Posthumous.

No one cares. Just a game. If someone's strong enough to defeat an ulbernaut, they shouldn't need a refund.
:P
-
They lost ownership of the items the moment they stepped away from the dropped items. Nothing against people going around salvaging the landscape for goodies that other people discarded.
-
Someone likely ran out of space for loot, so dropped the items of least value. Don't worry about it. If you did not take them, someone else would have. It's the thought that counts.
-
Thanks for your replies, but I still have the bad feeling. You know...what if...
What if someone left it there for someone else, who would take it in a few minutes. Or what if someone gave him something heavy so that he had to put something on the ground, go sell some items to the city and wished to get back.
If someone just discarded those items, then everything is fine. But if it wasn't the thing he wanted to do, then I feel guilty alhough it was his mistake.

Relax, if someone can kill an ulber, then I doubt they even care about claws, and its really easy to get them, also when someone drops items, they're up for grabs (unleess they're being guarded, in which case its impossible to grab them). But really, don't worry about it.

Buther, it's just an online game. X-/

Nice to see I am not the only one who worries to much.
Burther, I am more concerned about someone taking advantage of this post rather than your getting the items back to who might have left it on the ground. Please be careful, I would hate for someone to take advantage of your honesty. I wouldn't worry to much about the loot on the ground. Some of the players will just drop loot to make it so their inventory has room, or to lighten the load so they are not weighed down.

When i kill an ulbernaut i want Deadly Claw !
For some quest you need manny of them and you let manny clav and skin on the ground and at this time a big voice comme from the sky and said "i am a gm dont let so manny item on the ground" because of lagg ! just loot what you need on the ulbers !" and me i think "but i remenber my first day in game when i wath so happy to find somme "goodies" on the ground !"
-
Buther: Thanks for cleaning up after it.

Buther,
This is the most honest thread I have seen in these forums in a long time. It would be an honor to meet you in game.
If someone comes forward to claim their prize make sure they are as honest as you are. I would feel badly if someone took advantage of your kind nature.
/me thinks it is great someone cares so much.

As far as I am concerned whoever left them there is a litterbug who deserves the death penalty according to Yliakum Law. If someone claims them be sure to post their name so we can shame him/her/it interminably. Lots of people can kill ulbernauts if they do not fight back and/or cannot climb a rock to get at their attackers.
People who are too lazy to not loot what they do not want should be ridiculed mercilessly, unless, of course, they dispose of it responsibly.
-
! just loot what you need on the ulbers !
This is something that people need to learn. I always see loads of fish or other practically worthless loot items being dropped on the ground.
You all do know that you don't have to take everything in the loot window if you don't want to, right?
P.S.: Original poster, very honest. Me likes but it's alright, like everyone said. Ulber claws are not that special so I doubt they'll be missed.
-
They were probably there to mark the spawn point of the mobs so they can run back and forth to the right spot. If Buther hadn't picked those up, a GM probably would have.
Clean after yourselves, people!
-
Or they could've just been overweighed and didn't want to drop anything else...
/me raises her hand and wiggles her fingers..."question!"
Littering is not allowed in Yliakum, right? So what's the difference between littering and having to get rid of items because you're carrying too much? I'm assuming that littering is the thoughtless throwing away of objects on the ground? Or is dropping any items on the ground? hm...Does that apply for trees too? They litter apples on the ground, shouldn't we punish them too?
-
The guards can't just run up to you and kill you when you're out in the middle of nowhere for dropping something.
As for apples and the such, they fell from the trees and weren't picked up...no crime done since the tree did it. :P
-
/me laughs
Liadan I cannot imagine punishing a tree for what is it does naturally. Though I must say that I enjoy eating those apples from the trees and I am glad they fall because I am not tall enough to pick them from all the way up there.
-
The fate of trees is to end up as furniture or buildings, and they do not spawn in the DR.
Leama you do know you can pick them off the trees with /target_next_item /pickup (not sure the exact syntax at the moment) don't you? but perhaps you are unable to climb to justify it. ;)
-
bilbous I did not know that I could target an apple. As a young dwarf I always watch the apples to fall from the trees to eat them.
/me thanks bilbous for teaching me something new.

Biggest reason for disallowing the dropping of items is ooc and therefore a GM will showup when you're in the middle of nowhere and bop you
-
Actually we're planning a heavy campaign against the trees for constant littering of the map. Some of the trees will likely get kicked or even banned if this persists. :P
-
hmm now you folks have me wondering because I leave crafted blades all over the place. Acually I leave them in places where the beginners tend to go. and believe it or not alot of these folks message me askin if I dropped it by mistake. so seein a post like this does not surprise me this game has some very honest people in it.
-
Mmm.. Couldn't people create trash cans? Or prehaps a donation box...

The ability to drop and pickup items freely adds depth to this world, and makes it fun in basic ways. Better to have a daemon watching access times on object and deleting old ones, just putting out a trashcan, or putting more memory on the server and leaving that section of the mechanics alone.
