What's your favorite non-alcoholic drink? Yeah, no alcohol, 'cause there's so many types and it'd get cluttery... But what kind of general drink do you like? I like hot chocolate. Especially Ghirardelli.
-
I prefer root beer myself.
Always been a fan of the ever classic A&W root beer in an ice chilled glass bottle.
Nothing tastes like root beer except root beer. It's unique. :)
wiki page of root beer-ness: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Root_beer

Oh, I forgot about root beer... Yeah, I usually drink that on Friday nights when I'm watching my horror/ghost shows. ._. Makes me stay up all night.
Is there root beer in Scotland? Last time I visited I had to substitute it with Irn Bru.
-
TANG! Sorry... I have a six year old brother, Tang and kool-aid are everywhere :P
Really though...hmm...
I'm going to say coca-cola, but I'm trying to stop drinking that :P So... Grape Juice!
-
I've tried lots of root beers, and so far my favorite is Henry Weinhardt's (yes, the beer co.). So far nothing else even comes close.
But my favorite non-alcoholic drink has to be black coffee. A couple of closer runner ups are a good cappuccino (read: not the starbucks kind), and good black tea with a splash of milk. I have a favorite black tea, but I don't know what it's called cuz i just inherited a box of it from my parents and the label is in some foreign language that I can't read. When it's gone I won't be able to get anymore :-/
-
Sunkist and Code-Red Mountain Dew are my bag. :P
-
When it's gone I won't be able to get anymore :-/
Take a picture of the box, and I'm willing to bet we could figure it out. ;)

Ooooh good idea. When I get home, provided my digital camera and linux want to play nice. Otherwise it could be a few days.

Om nom nom Irn-Bru! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irn-Bru)
Pretty much everyone I know thinks I'm a freak for loving this stuff so much, but I am unrepentant.
-
Water. I drink lots of it. Probably between 3-5 liters a day. :D
-
Irn-bru is pretty good, I admit. But root beer is the nectar of the gods.
-
What is with this love of root beer?
-
Greetings to all the future diabetics!
-
root beer freaks. sassperilla is the way to go! (anyone remember anne of green gables?)
umm...my favourite drink? H2O! let's go healthy! darn nalgen water bottles....
anyone here like barq's rootbeer?
oh and tang and kool-aid are just water with flavour and sugar. :P
-
Actually, root beer is good for you. It's Coke and Dr. Pepper and such you gotta watch out for.
-
Root beer is not "good" for you...its just better than the others because it does not have caffeine.
I'd have to say my favorite is a nice cold glass of lemonade (with ice). I started drinking that the most during my first pregnancy and the cravings for it kinda stuck. Never been much of a pop drinker, but if comes between Pepsi or coke..absolutely has to be Pepsi ;)
-
I like water...
Oh and hot apple cider, thats good too.
-
Water isn't exactly 'healthy' for you. Fruit juices are.
Actual fruit juices
-
My favortie hot drink is coffee. (http://img352.imageshack.us/img352/6770/coffeecup2ii1.gif) (http://imageshack.us)
(http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/1392/rootbeerqn9.gif) (http://imageshack.us) My favorite cold drink is rootbeer.
-
Blood
Oh, and fruit juices
-
I'd have to say Old Jamaica Ginger Beer. Bit of a bite to it but I really like the ginger aspect of it.
-
Milk or chocolate milk in the morning, orange juice or other fruit juices for the rest of the day.
I rarely drink pure water, unless I'm really really thirsty .. but since I stay away to overly sugared or carbonated drinks, I think it's safe to say that my drinking habits are pretty healthy. That is since we can't talk about alcoholic beverages on here :P
-
Rivella
*blushes*
-
Nothing like a great cup of coffee with a little milk and 'Sweet-n-Low', a menthol cigarette and of course a great book to read to go along with it.
To bad I haven't the time. :(
-

I don't think the caffeine is what's so unhealthy about soda. Coffee has far more, and it has not been subjected to nearly the same backlash over health in recent years as soda has.
-
The root beer vs. regular soda issue mostly has to do with your teeth. Generally, root beer isn't carbonated and it doesn't have much in the way of acid, so that's the reason it's generally better for you than other sodas - it doesn't wear away at your enamel so fast. If it's made from real sarsaparilla then you get the benefits from that stuff, too.
-
Uhh...water IS good for you...
and no Juice is not always good for you either, too much sugar. only if you drink 100% juice and even then fruit has lots of sugars.
Water is the best for you, it helps keep you healthy and your body is made up of like 60-70% water, and your cells are made of 60% water, you so need to take in lots of water to stay healthy ;) so don't say its not good for you, any health care provider will disagree with you there :P
-
I believe you Nurse Izzabella. I just worry about what is in the water also. I say we should always boil it. Back to a good cup of coffee.
-
So coffee is even healthier than water because it's the same thing but with added coffee nutrients, right?
-
Tea is better than water. Not sure about coffee.
And I'm putting tea as my favourite drink actually. I completely forgot about hot drinks and, yes, I've gone from Coffee to Tea. Scary, I know.
Izzabella, you're no fun, I wanted to see how many people would just agree with me. And yes, I meant 100% fruit juice, and the sugars in fruit are better for you than most sugar you'll have.
-
If you're going to add sugar to a drink (or anything), it should be real sugar. Artificial sugar is said to be unhealthy, since it heightens the risk of brain tumors and strange neurological-related stuff. Not really proven yet, but that's what the data says. :O
-
Diet Coke with lime....LOTS of lime. And not that pre-mixed crap they sell, get an actual diet coke and cut up an actual lime. ;D
-

That might depend on which country you live in, Dutch water FTW! no buying in supermarkets!
Jus d'orange (self made) and (dutch) water for me! :sorcerer:
 :flowers:
-
natural fruit juices are the best, and if we're talking about those, i'll have to go with either coconut juice (drank from the actually cococnut shell) or soursop juice (fresh with the meat-covered seeds that get stuck in your straw \o/). Oh and sugar cane juice!
none of these wussie apple/grape/orange juices.

aspartamine has been proven to worsen short-term memory...

But if a person has no choice then that is what they have to do. Anything in excess can be bad for all of us. I use a small amount just to sweeten my coffee up just a bit. Then again I am sweet enough so I do not have to to worry about that. :D
I drink my coffee hot so I do hope all the impurities from the water are boiled away. At least I hope so.
-

i like your thinking
no coffee =
Coffee = :woot:
aspartamine has been proven to worsen short-term memory...
lol that really does explain alot, my memory is truly horrific

Coffee is considered pretty healthy in general, unless you're suffering from stress, high blood pressure or ulcers. Just don't go drinking more than 20 cups at once, then you're nearing the toxicity level of caffeïne, which can even be lethal.
Water is not healthy! Water can kill! ... if it's consumed in ridiculously excessive amounts or in a de-ionized/purified form. :P
Seriously now, water is the ideal diet drink because it contains no calories or unhealthy ingredients but aside from that, all beverages contain water along with other substances. Sugar is also not always the evil element it's often made out to be. We need our daily sugar to be healthy so avoiding all sugar can be unhealthy as well ... like in most things it's the extremes that harm. Izzy is right though, pick fruit juices that have no added sugars .. the fruit itself contains all the sugar you need.

Define "at once," please...I once stayed up for 36 hours and drank about 22 cups of coffee over the course of 8 hours or so reading The Grapes of Wrath, because I was suppose to have it read for class and I didn't start until the night before. Then I got to class and I was the only one who had finished it, so the professor pushed it back another week. I guess 8 hours is probably not what you meant by "at once..."
-
Nah, I meant one after the other without much pause, which is practically impossible to do. :P
