Title: Am stuck on first NPC in tutorial.

I found and followed the directions online regarding the tutorial initial login phaze but the syntax isnt being reconized.
I have the NPC selected and I started off by saying hi then when I say "give me a quest" it scrols the thing that says look in last line for a clue what to say.

I would like to play this game a lot but am stumped.

i was certainly not ingame advising you when it happened to you  :P  :-[

try to remake another character and see if it works now.  :)
(nobody thought that it would be good to say that?  :devil:  :lol: )

I just finished doing this quest - and it worked just fine.

Please check your quest log and see if you have the quest already. (first thing) Also, read back through and make sure you did not miss something. (second thing)

If you would like to send me the entire interaction with that NPC from your logs, I will be glad to look at it to try and help you solve the issue.

the learning curve here is too steep for me

sorry to hear that, but with the current stage the game is in, that being alpha development, with no where near everything even completed, let alone polished, the learning curve can be a bit steep, and players do come in contact with man a bug or two.  thanks, for checking us out though.

hmmm seems to be looping that text for me aswell and the other NPCs aren't giving me any quests for sure.

Did get a little further before it looped but same text nonetheless.

Seems to be the standard answerseeing I just got a bit further using the guide but really for a tutorial some more obvious answers should be added :P

sorry for double posting but after i copied and pasted the log her I was able to read it more clearly and realized where I was stuck
aparently the only way to proceed was to know to say

i am ready

took me 3 days..

glad you were able to figure things out.  as a general rule when speaking with NPCs, if they don't seem to be doing what they should be doing, it never hurts to go re-read your chat log to see if you may be missing something such as in this case, the key phrase they want to continue on with the lesson.  :)

Yaknow it took me nearly 3 days to get unstuck in the tutorial and then I turned around to find a game master standing in frount of me saying my name wasnt ok.
So i went down a list of 4 or 5 names and none of them were acceptable in your world then I actually went so far as to make up letters just to get into the game
I was even told Kicka Tima wouldnt work ( a couple of words i thought I made up) and that was still rejected.

You guys dont really expect for such a strict namimg policy is going to work out in a world of millions of players?
I even tried something in my native language and the person didnt know what it meant but it wasnt original enuf...

Anyway sorry for being rude but I havent been put off by the initial crunch of learning a game since the days of fpsers .
Ill come back and play later maybe but Im going to delete my guys first i guess ill name my self

PS strives to be geared towards the Roll Play aspect of MMORPG, hence, we wish every character to have a roll play suitable name.  If you care to learn more about why it is the way it is, you are free to use the search feature f the forums and read over the many wonderful threads that have discussed that topic.  :)

If you had just paid a little more attention, you could've saved yourself 3 days time ;)
Also, when you have created your name and continued to the "Paths" or "Custom" phase of character creation, the game asks you if you are *very* sure your name applies to the naming rules. It seems you clicked past that too.

Not PlaneShift's fault :)

But, alas, you are welcome to return when you feel you are finally ready to take this game on.
