Title: Error while connecting/loading world.
Post by: Maulus Octir on March 03, 2008, 01:19:24 am
Aight,so I've just downloaded SteelBlue, I heard it wasnt as hard on the computer; which is why I stopped playing in the first place.
Anyway, I've got the game (yay!) but I've also got a problem (no so yay...).

When I start the game it loads up fine, so I am able to log into the server and select my char. BUT when I am loading the game, I get about, oh say.... a fifth of the way loaded, and then I get an error message:

Somthing unxpected happened in Planeshif: Steel Blue
Details: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION at 6900E263

Now, I have tried multiple things, I've reinstalled and updated, and reinstalled and NOT updated. Redownloaded and done both of the former, I've even gone into setup and turned off vertex buffing and multisampling as well as loading models. To add to it, I can't seem to get any updated graphics card drivers for my ATI Radeon IPG-320M.

Please help me! If you need system specs, I'll be happy to give them!

If you're using Windows Vista, right-click PlaneShift and use "Run as Administrator".
If that doesn't work, could you also find the dump file that was generated after the crash and send it?

I am having this exact problem with Steel blue, but mine is getting the error message about halfway though the loading screen after i select my char. Before this started happening i was getting the error only when coming from Oja to Hydlaa and going through the last loading point right before getting to the Hydlaa gates...The error message was the same and happened after the loading got to halfway..I don't know if this is any help to anyone but just thought i should say something.

I just fixed mine! i went to the "Planeshift setup" Application" then i set the Resolution to "Other" Which for me was  1280x960,i had a hunch messing with the resolution would help cause when i loaded the client it resized everything but not to much to make that much of a difference, including stuff like  "Font Scaling" Which was at 100% out of 150%  or "halfway on the meter"  So i turned that down to 75%. I also turned "Multisample for Quality" off as well. Hope this fixes your problem :)
