Title: Game Hangs On Character Selection
Post by: Legless on March 07, 2008, 05:03:06 am
Running on VISTA Home Premium. Game running as administrator.

When I start the game I get to the initial connection screen. I can see one server, Fragnetics whic has a figure init of around 300 (I'm presuming it's a ping thing) and a percentage number which seems to be counting down. I let it countdown until it disappears.

Slightly below the server name is a button that moves up and down when I click it but doesn't show me anything. I'm presuming that this should show a bunch of different servers but I can't see anything.

If I click on OK it takes me to another screen with four empty slots on the right and a spinning thing in the middle. If I click on the top one it takes me to a character selection screen. None of the others does anything.

In the character selection screen I can enter a Character Name and then try and select a race. This is where it goes Pete Tong. As soon as I select a race, any race, the game freezes. Nothing I do has any effect.

Any ideas?

UPDATE: It looks to be a graphics problem. I suspect I should be seeing something in the center pane but I'm get notthing except soem text and a spinning thingy. If I click on the spinning thingy I can select another race. Still can't do anything else though.

Spec:

Specs? :) Didn't quite post all of them. First suggestion would be to make sure your graphics drivers are up to date. There is only one server at the moment, so you're fine there. The character selection screen is empty if you don't have any made yet, so there are also no problems at that step.

But more details on your system might help.

Fixed.

It was the graphics drivers. Once updated, everything works...
