This may be a linux client issue-- I don't know. When travelling in the wilderness, I no longer see major aspects of the landscape until I reach a certain distance, then they suddenly pop into view. Weirdly, many things will show up if I am not looking directly at them, but if I turn towards them they will disappear. Often it is not entire land features, but just sections of a hill, for example.

system stats?

check the adaptive distance in grpahics -> details.
either uncheck it or peg it to the right.

i have a similar problem with the landscape. its all pitch black. i can see in the city and sewers. i can also see the forest path to the magic house with the snakes. but through the other exit of the city is basically pitch black.
im running on a vista with all available updates.

agghh thanks.

Thanks steuben-- I left adaptive distance unchecked and max'd the distance (from 200 to 1000) and that seemed to fix the distance issue. Certain features in the distance still disappear when I look straight at them, though, such as the Bronze Doors falls when viewed from just into the region.

On the roads, I have been noticing things like trees and stalagmites disappearing depending on the angle I'm at. I am also at max distance. Sometimes if I'm running toward a tree for example, it'll disappear then reappear a few seconds later. Strange.
