As I mentioned, I have read the stickies explaining that on a Mac the Updater should not be used.
On my first attempt i downloaded, moved game into applications, ran it, and got a message when I logged in saying I needed to update. Then I ran the updater. After searching the forums I found i shouldn't have opened the updater, so I deleted the game and re-downloaded.
Now I have just tried to run it again and logged in, but I am getting the same message again - 'You are not running the correct version of Planeshift. Please run the Updater'
How am I supposed to get past this message without updating?? I have tried pressing OK and trying again many times but the same message keeps coming back. As far as I can tell, nobody seems to have mentioned this problem so far, and I am very confused.
I'd be glad if anyone could help as I am really looking forward to playing :) Thanks.

You have the wrong version. Download from here (http://hydlaa.com/smf/index.php?topic=31743.0).

Thanks a lot, much appreciated :)

Suddenly the claim of having read the stickies sounds not so certain :P

why they simply can't update the download page is beyond me. seems a no-brainer and would avoid all these posts related to it

Beats me too :P

The Bittorrent section of the page has been updated, there's quite a few stickies with info about SB, and there is an announcement on planeshift.it and the forums.
All that quite gave it away, don't blame the download page. He can't help it :(
