Title: Buying 'faction' skill crash client
Post by: Knallgrim on March 27, 2008, 10:52:28 am
When I was buying some training from Harnquist I noticed 'faction-points' was listed as trainable. A bit puzzled I wanted to try this and provoked an immediate and hard client crash.

I have this sneaky suspiscion buying faction point is pointless but should the option even be listed? Now it's just a booby-trap for players that can't resist clicking on something new and unexpected.

Why can't the bugtracker be a part of this forum? Making yet another account makes me go ughh...I already have half a dozen PS-related accounts, it's enough already. ???

The forum software and the bug tracker software are NOT related or made by the same people, so that is not possible and SMF [the forum software] does not have a bug tracker that works in its forums.

if you really want to see it as the same account, just use the same username and password..

Not to be one to be all "The way it is done is the right way", but....

These volunteer workers do a good job, especially considering their volunteer status... if you need help, or want to point out something, this is a good forum... but bugs get reported in a tracking system.  Now you COULD have volunteers listen to your bug complaint, then try to report it... but then what if the tester can not replicate it?  the coders would contact them.. and you would not be able to help them... and it would drop in the cracks...

we are all testers of this beta... we agreed to be, and frankly I like the system.

I was a volunteer president of a local non-profit.. and this is exactly the way you need to do it.  the last thing I want to see is the volunteers doing busy work and getting discouraged and walking away.

So keep up the good work guys.. and others... once they tell you that you should report it in the bug tracker... just do it?
otherwise it is "mind over matter" ... if you do not mind enough to do so, then it don't matter?

now if this was a pay-to-use game... and you were paying for paid staff to wait on you... well, then I would see your point.

I can not do the coding these guys do... I can not do the banana blender surprise (a band I know... but a reference to something they do with a blender for graphics... I know enough to know I don't know...) but I can play... look for bugs and report them, and try to be patient.  These volunteers have full time jobs, and lives, and probably want to play the game too?  and they take time to help you.

And when it is down.. we all can write in the forum, and bicker and whine... while they are taking it all without enough thanks and have to work even harder... knowing we are blaming them?

Not me.  <<bamko raises a mug at the tavern>> this one is for you guys... the angels of Talad... may you be forever blessed and may your work be light... and if I may serve along side you... call on me, and I will try.

and know some complain... but some of us sit by quietly in awe of what you do.. and stand behind you!

Don't worry, Izzy, you're better off not clicking the link. :P

Anyway, to get this back on topic, I almost tried training faction... glad I didn't.
