Being a bit bored of roleplay, and with a reduced setting team (a number of people left), PlaneShift Team decided to dedicate more time to mini-games into PlaneShift. We hope that minigames will become more important than all the "sword and sorcery" thing and more addictive than roleplay on the long run, so we can transition to a more arcade like virtual world. Maybe we will even have a casino' in the future! Some of the basic feature of the arcade engine are already working. A casino! Will we play for real dollars (though euro sounds better these times ;P) there? Would be simply amaizing!

Great news, I am bored of roleplaying too!
How about turning Planeshift into some sort of a base to choose from various games: egoshooters, strategy games etc?
Just picture the current Planeshift world to be some sort of "menu" to not move a cursor within but a puppet (Char) to go to the several games. Well, the Gugrontid region and the BD ones wont be necessary anymore. Actually only the plaza would be fine enough, place games at prominent spots: beer games at Kada's, anvil tossing at Harns..
Hm.. I wonder if the future Planeshift shouldnt be based on flash? Perhaps it would be easier to maintain the code?

Wheres that model in the clip/screenshot taken from? Looks cool!Oo
If its your own stuff, why isnt it implemented? After all the counter looks like from long time ago?

The host person in the screenshot reminds me of one of the minigame hosts from Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

How about having a section where we can run around in a FPS style kill zone. (Maybe some Zombies would be fun)

Arcade, connection "real money - ingame money", the game as virtual environment not world... it reminds me why I left Second Life and don't want to ever look back...

Sometimes I'm just anxious about which way will PlaneShift take...

Edit: But I understand that with Xillix leaving it will be difficult time.

Have you actually played SL? It might be successful from a marketing point of view but I pray to Laanx that PlaneShift doesn't become something like that!

I think if we are going to have an FPS style killzone then can we at least have it all in the spirit of the roleplay?  Such as, say, only being able to use bows, crossbows, and magic.  And also have it in some secluded area in say, the arena.  The one and only reason I joined Planeshift was for the roleplay (well, and it was free too but, yeah)  I don't want this to become another Runescape style game where everyone goes around cussing each other outjavascript:void(0); and leveling up.
