When I was loading up planeshift, an error message says: "Something unexpected happen in PLaneshift Steel Blue Details: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION at 0364EC40 Would you like to save a diagnostic file?" If I press yes I get another error message: "Failed to create dump file C:\Program Files\Planeshift Steel Blue\Planeshift_Version_Mar 01 2008_Addr0364EC40.dmp (error 5)" When I press ok it shutsdown the program. On the first error message, if I press no to saving a dianostic file, it automatically shuts down. Please help, I really want to play Planeshift, thank you.

Windows Vista Home 1 GB RAM I don't know Video Card. Sorry I didn't post earlier. If that's not enough plz tell me
-
Please post your graphics card and your processor.
For processor (on Vista): Right-click on My Computer->Properties, and it should be listed under System.
For graphics card (in that same window): Click on Device Manager and post what it says under Display adapters.
I can run PlaneShift on Vista Business just fine. My processor is an Intel T2060 1.60GHz 1.60GHz and my GPU is an ATI Mobility Radeon X1400.

I run PlaneShift on two windows computers currently, one Vista Home Basic and one Vista Business. Both run fine. I've also run it on Home Premium.
Not to sound like a broken record (yes, I know I've said this on many a post) but have you run the updater in administrator mode (Right click on the updater icon and choose Run as Administrator).
Then try launching the game normally and if that fails try running the game in administrator mode as well.

I tried to run both on admin, and it never worked. I've tried other ways to including your way and it never worked. The Updater worked I mean but the Game still crashed. It still showed the Exception Acess Error. The guy still never got me email by the way. My Processor is AMD Turion(tm) 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-58 1.90GHz. My video card is ATI Radeon X1200. By the way, when
plane shift, a message says the Data Execution Prevention has closed down the psclinet.exe.

I still need help guys, the guy never sent me anything. I really REALLY want to play planeshift.
-
We'll release an update shortly which might help. If not then we can look at the latest dmp file from that and try and see if we can spot the problem :)
-
THANK YOU XORDAN

I just spoke to someone with a very similar problem--same operating system, same hardware and everything. He said all he did was update his graphics drivers (from ATI's website (http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html)) and psclient worked for him.
-
is it free?
-
graphics card drivers are always free
-
where do I go from the website?
-
http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html
-
Please be more specific about where I go from the site. Thank you.
*edit*
Wait nevermind I found out where to go, but the graphics card is not listed in the list. I have an ATI Radeon X1200. There is only ATI Radeon X1300 and ATI Radeon X1050. Please help thank you.
-
it was listed under vista 64 bit --> integrated/motherboard --> rad x1200 series. :)

-
Thank you, but which link do I click?
-
i'd suggest option 1: https://a248.e.akamai.net/f/674/9206/0/www2.ati.com/gamesite/8-3_vista64_dd_ccc_wdm_enu_59753.exe

I updated my driver, but I still couldn't run Planeshift. Is something wrong?
-
Just wanted to say I was having this same problem just now, read this forum, updated my video drivers and now I can connect and everything. Plus I like the software suite it came with :-). Thanks for your help!
(If your curious) system specs:
Processor => AMD Athlon 64 3000+ 2.00 GHz
RAM => 1 GB
Video Card => ATI Radeon 9200 Series 128 Mb
-
y is mine not working?
-
You may not have the 64-bit version of vista which is the driver he linked you to. You can have a 64-bit processor and still have 32-bit windows. If your display and everythign else is working good right now, you want to make sure you can fix anything if it doesn't work though (installing new drivers and stuff). So create a system restore point. I can't tell you how to do this in vista, but if you go to the help section (probably somewhere in your start menu) and search for system restore, it should have step by step instructions. Make a restore point and if anythign happens you can go back through a similiar process and restore it back to this time to fix the problem. That's just some general help. But I think your video card driver is here:
http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html
go there and then click on:
Windows Vista
32-Bit Edition => Integrated/Motherboard => Radeon X1200
Install this driver and see if it works after that.
-
i'll try, but i think i see the problem. I accidently pressed Radeon Xpress 1200
*edit*
YES i can play, but the graphics looks weird. Is there something wrong or is my graphics card not enough?
-
...weird?
-
like, well i don't know how to explain it but like when i was creatig my char things were in different colors and moving when I was looking at my char. It's like in clay and weird colors fill up the character creation screen (not the whole screen itself). It's like this in the game too.
-
Can you take a screenshot and post a link to it?
Hosting via imageshack or some such....
-
how do I take a screen shot?
-
Alt+PrintScreen, just like taking a screenshot in any other program. The image will go to your clipboard; then just fire up MS Paint and paste it into a new image.
If your world is already loaded, you can also use the "/screenshot" command in the communication window to create a copy your current screen onto a file. For me the file is saved to C:\Users\(my username)\AppData\Roaming\PlaneShift\screenshots\ where AppData is a hidden folder.
