On one particularly cold and rainy day, Valiki Arquet sits in his room idly playing with his wooden Yulbar, wishing he could go outside and play. He's about to throw the toy back into the toy box when his brother rushes into the room.
"Valiki! Lets start a club!" says Jhona enthusiastically.
"What?"
"Lets start a club I said!"
Liking the idea, Valiki shows interest
"What sort of club?" he says.
"The bestest best club ever! We get all our friends to join, we'll make it top secret!"
"Yeah! Ok, lets do that!"
Jhona and Valiki rush out the room and downstairs but stop dead in their tracks.
"It's raining..." says Jhona.
"Oh yeah... almost forgot. Ok, when the sun comes out, so do we!"
A pause.
Jhona looks at his brother, "So what will we call it?"
Valiki thinks for a while and spots the wooden Yulbar still in his hand.
The Waddling Yulbars
Goal:
This club is for all your child characters, and if you don't have one, this might get you to make one! I'll tell you why, because everyone in this club is going to have loads more fun than other silly people who DON'T join. Even though this club is meant for child characters, the players will have tons of fun themselves, it's all in the game planning, which I'll get to later. But for now... here's a little something Valiki wrote as the planning, edited of course by his mother to make it possible for people to actually read it.

9: The Boss - I'm the boss!! ("Why do YOU get to be the boss Valiki!?" "I'm older!" "Only by 10 minutes!" "Shh, I'm thinking")
8: Watering Can - You make the club grow, by inviting new kids.
7: Games Maker Upper - You make games and stuff, and make sure they don't go wrong.
6: Joker - You're funny.
5: Waddling Yulbar - You become one of us ofishly officially!
4: New Kid - If you're a new kid and no one really nose knows you.
3: Booger - You're a booger if you cheat in a game, or tattle tale on us! [only temporary, if more than half of the people playing a game call someone a booger, they become a booger until the next game session]
2: Grown Up - If grown ups want to join us to play games they can, only if we say so thow though, and you can't tell us what to do!
1: Parent - *sigh* You CAN tell us what to do X-/
Games!
HAGS - You all know it! You all love it!
Play Fighting - Fighting turnimints tournaments to see who's the best warrior!
Fantasy Advencher Adventure - We go on big and dangerous quests! [Basically hunting creatures in a group, and although you actually DO hunt in game, it's actually all in their minds ;)]
And anything the Game Maker Uppers think of!
NO GIRLS ALLOWED!! Any kid may join ("But mommyyyy!")
And remember "Shhhhh" It's a secret ;)

Sounds like something to be really funny, and hopefully you can attract more people to "raise" child chars!

Ahem, Eliseth, I like this idea a lot, reminds me of kids corner only much less ooc. Though I have a suggestion, scavenger hunt!
I hear many stories of crystal seekers back in the old days of ps. So it kinda gave me the idea... Although HAGS alone is great, I miss that ol' explorer's game. - On that note I wonder why they stopped.

But back to the topic.. Eliseth, great job with the guild's concept and the thread itself!
Now I hope this won't fall into oblivion as other interesting ideas did, people start creating young chars now!
Meeting Valiki in-game was good fun, looking forward to see more of the kiddos ^_^

Noriin: Thanks so much! I was thinking the same thing the other day when I came up with the idea, I really don't want it to fade like so many other ideas out there. I'll stay active as much as possible, but so far I've only met one other child character in game. C'mon people, spread the love already!!
I've come up with another idea btw, and I need opinions. I'd like to get the kids (once there's enough of us) to rehearse a play of some sort and then perform it in the plaza or something, it could be quite fun, and a great RP opportunity for everyone, not just the kids.
Thanks again for the the comments, and if you have ideas, please tell me! Go back to your own childhoods and think of the things you used to enjoyed as a kid, if you have your own children, find out what games they like to play.

Is the guild leader a child? I'm not sure how a child comes up with 20.000 tria and hands it to a governmental registry counter... I'd imagine there is an age limit for guild membership as well (if guilds are IC and not OOC... Which they should be in PS!).
I don't agree with the existence of characters that are below 16 years (relative to human age, close to maturity) myself. Not sure what the settings team or PS team thinks about that. Despite this personal note though, I think it'd be more fitting to have a guild organized to entertain people (children), where the members are storytellers, entertainers, etc and not the people having fun. Else this seems more like a friend circle than a guild.
If it is a friend circle, I don't think you guys require the guild-tag... Mainly because other children might already be "guilded"!
But if you want the guild-tag, stick with the guild-tag. The topic post is very fun, so I won't mind much. :P

The title originally said "Club", but it was changed to "Guild" because it had to be either a guild or organization. It's not meant to be an official guild.

I know, I was the one who changed it to guild. You'll notice that Planeshift has a Guild System, but not a club system. If this is not meant to be a guild, then it should be changed to organization.
I'll still be disappointed about the usage of the guild system in game, but my disappointment shouldn't keep anyone from having fun. The PlaneShift team has adopted a stance as to what they consider guilds (it's in the website, check it out) but it's not like the GM's have to check that or anything.

Yes, Valiki is a child, the credits and such were all OOC necessities, as the guild system makes it easier to form a group like this. The idea behind it is to get people to use their imaginations a bit more, in their minds, this is a very important and top secret guild, or club. You remember what it was like when you a child surely? I for one remember starting groups like this among friends, it was great fun.

I, too, would be interested in hearing what the dev team have to say about child characters. I think there's a discussion in the wish list somewhere, I'll find it and link it later. An entertainment guild has already been done, and for some reason they never really last. And in anycase , much more fun can be had if you entertain yourself. These kids don't have to rely on others to have fun.

Yes I have thought about other child chars that are for example in their parents guild, if they still want to join our club they may, it'll just be a little harder to give them ranks and to organise events and such. Still, I won't stop anyone from joining in our fun.
Sangwa, thanks for you input, I appreciate you took time to give me your thoughts. I can't say for sure whether or not this will work in the long run, but I'm certainly going to try. Let's just see where it goes, shall we?

It's my absolute pleasure Rachela. I'm having a total blast! I would like to thank all the grown-ups who have been so nice and friendly to Valiki and his friends and for playing the games with them. Tonight we had a great session of Hide and Seek, our second one so far!
If you were still wondering whether or not to join us, don't hesitate! There's plenty of fun to be had!

I posted this over at the Yulbar forum, but I thought I should put it here too... It would be nice if Yulbars with character slots to spare could play the parents of other club members that don't have visible parents at the moment. That way the families could all be in the game together, and the players wouldn't have to play two characters at once and talk to themselves as the parents... Anyone else think this is a good idea?

It is. The parents wouldn't necessarily be in the guild (though there is a "parent" level), they'd just be played by guild members for convenience. I guess anyone else could do it... It's just that I think, unless the characters are specifically orphans, they should have parents in the game...

Adults can join, they're just set to "Grown Up" or "Parent" level.

Yeah, and we don't really have a bottom age limit. Ananea is a two and a half year old, albeit a very bright and intelligent two and a half year old :)

if you have a character already on your account you dont have to do the tutorial more then one time with the first character

It'll cost ya ;) It requires the use of imagination, since it doesn't look like the devs will ever officially implement child characters. But it works, believe me, you just need to have your description set up right. Sure, it confuses some people who forget to read the descriptions but a quick "[my character's a child]" sets everything straight again. If you meet Valiki in game you'll see what I mean.
