Title: Segmentation Fault
Post by: Kuraisu on April 09, 2008, 09:43:38 pm
Hi! =)

I downloaded and installed PlaneShift-v0.4.00-x86.bin for my GNU/Linux. But when I try to start the game (psclient) or setup (pssetup), it falls with "Segmentation Fault" in console. I runned updater, which successefuly updated PlaneShift. But this doesn't change the situation. Same thing with segfault.

OS: Own LFS build
glibc-2.5
NVIDIA propertary driver v. 100.14.19
X.Org 7.1.0

Hardware:
CPU: Intel Core Duo - T2300
RAM: 1024Mb
Video: nVidia Corporation Quadro NVS 110M / GeForce Go 7300

What could go wrong? ??? Please help. =) Thanks.  :woot:

P.S. I want to play this game!  :surrender:

how far does it get before it crashes? the last few lines of the console output will help.

Unfortunately, almost instantly:

Code: [Select]
kuraisu@lovecraft:/mnt/data/games/PlaneShift$ ./psclient
Segmentation fault
kuraisu@lovecraft:/mnt/data/games/PlaneShift$ ./pssetup
Segmentation fault
kuraisu@lovecraft:/mnt/data/games/PlaneShift$ ./psupdater
Checking for updates:
Checking for updates to the updater: No updates needed!
Checking for updates to all files: No updates needed!
Updater finished, press enter to exit.

kuraisu@lovecraft:/mnt/data/games/PlaneShift$

I do get the same segmentation fault after running the updater (only with the updater-executable... pssetup works).

Code: [Select]
/home/user/PlaneShift> ./psupdater
Checking for updates:
Checking for updates to the updater: Update Available!
Beginning self update!

0%
0% ---- 25% ---- 50% ---- 75% --- 100%
/home/user/PlaneShift> ./psupdater
Segmentation fault

I'm running the default Xandros OS on my brandnew EEE-PC.

Looks like I'll have to build it from source.  :sorcerer:
I'll post here, when I'll do this.
