Title: Gentoo Planeshift/CS/CEL packages
Post by: malverian on April 03, 2003, 10:40:26 pm
For any interested Gentoo/Linux users, I have packaged several programs related to Planeshift:

All of these packages are currently available to \'~x86\' users.

[Currently masked, glibc(?) problems fixed in CVS]
* crystalspace - 0.96_r003 release of CrystalSpace SDK
* cel - 0.96_r001 release of CrystalSpace Entity Layer

[Recommended]
* crystalspace-cvs - CVS ebuild for CrystalSpace
* cel-cvs - CVS ebuild for CrystalSpace Entity Layer

[Planeshift Binary Package - CVS ebuilds not required for this]
* planeshift-bin - Planeshift 0.2.006 release (deprecated)

I have spoken to Talad about putting source tarball releases of Planeshift on the website so that I can get rid of the planeshift-bin package and replace it with simply a \'planeshift\' package. Please look forward to this when 0.2.008 is released!

I\'m going to be actively maintaining these packages (likely minus the planeshift-bin unless enough people would like me to do so), so if you have any problems with them, please feel free to contact me directly at malverian@NOSPAM.gentoo.org or file a bug on http://bugs.gentoo.org and it will be assigned to me.

I\'d appreciate you input and reports on success stories as well as not so successful ones.

The Linux binary package is available from the sourceforge.net project page: http://www.sourceforge.net/projects/planeshift/

Simply go to the \"Files\" section, and download it from there.
If you are a Gentoo user, all that is required is to type \"emerge planeshift-bin\"

A new version .008 is coming out supposedly today, I suggest you wait for that, as it will come out in source form and with an updater to automatically fetch the needed data/art files.

I will have an ebuild for this source version with accompanying snapshots of crystalspace and cel as soon as it is released, look forward to a follow up post concerning my progress.

how about a CVS ebuild for gentoo? ...that would help a lot, since the binary releases are pretty slow  :D
