Title: [Event] Octarchal Auction [May 10-11, 2008]
Post by: Dajoji on May 05, 2008, 11:07:05 pm
You have five days to vote for the guildhouse of your dreams. Will it be in Gugrontid? In Hydlaa? Or is it Akkaio that best serves the purpose of your guild? Vote now. You only have five days to get the guildhouse you want!

(http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/9871/shot35pz8.jpg)

Lovely property located in Gugrontid's Keep. Amazing view of the city, precious stone carvings
and beautiful access bridge. It also has a practical storage room adjacent to the building. Let your guild stand
out in the crowd with this luxurious property in the heart of this amazing city.

Bid starts at: 900,000 trias.

.:.::.:.:.::.:. Gugrontid B .:.::.:.:.::.:.

Nothing reflects the sturdy and noble nature of Kran architecture better than this fine construction.
Located at the base of the keep, this guildhouse offers the resident guild an excellent location for trading,
crafting and mining activities. Let your guild be part of the very foundation of what makes this a great city.

Bid starts at: 800,000 trias

.:.::.:.:.::.:. East Hydlaa A .:.::.:.:.::.:.

(http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/7530/shot39xs1.jpg)

Let the classic beauty of the columns of this manor reflect the position of your guild as one of the pillars
of our society. The beautiful combination of stone and wood and the finest finishes that only the master
artisans of Hydlaa can achieve make this property a gem in the middle of the library district.

Bid starts at: 700,000 trias

.:.::.:.:.::.:. East Hydlaa B .:.::.:.:.::.:.

(http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/5981/shot44cn4.jpg)

The traditional three-story design of this manor and its crisp white walls contrasting with the solid dark wood
beams and columns make this a grand place for an urban guild to center its operations. It's located in the library
district, just a few steps from the property described above and is the perfect example of the city's architecture:
functional, clean and welcoming.

Bid starts at: 700,000 trias

.:.::.:.:.::.:. Akkaio Central .:.::.:.:.::.:.

(http://img229.imageshack.us/img229/2072/shot42qt1.jpg)

A cozy two story building located in the heart of the market district of Akkaio. Practical and perfectly located
for the younger guild. Be a part of the future of this resilient city that has endured hardships and difficulties
only to become stronger and ever more beautiful.

Bid starts at: 400,000 trias

.:.::.:.:.::.:. Akkio East .:.::.:.:.::.:.

(http://img229.imageshack.us/img229/4876/shot33pg2.jpg)

Size matters. This prominent structure is capable of housing the largest guilds in Yliakum. Its location in the
warehouse district as well as its lofty space make it perfect for commercial activities, having enough room to
store goods of all kinds. The building is both discreet and safe and its high ceilings, open floor plan and
industrial dimensions are comfortable for the modern lifestyle of the dome's most thriving guilds.

Bid starts at: 600,000 trias

  • Saturday 10 - 22:00 GMT / 17:00 EST

  • Sunday 11 - 16:00 GMT / 12:00 EST

The results will be kept secret until the poll closes and the three houses with the most votes will be auctioned in ascending order (3rd place, 2nd place, 1st place). You can vote for two houses and change your vote if necessary. The poll will close in five days from now. See you at the auction!

Edit: Ok. Voting for two doesn't work. I must have forgotten something :-[ so let's just do one vote then. Sorry about that :P

Edit 2: Gah! Ok. Trying to fix the poll didn't work and now results are visible... anyway... keep voting.

Edit 3: Thanks Neko! :flowers:

Is it just me or does anyone else think that Gugrontid guild houses ought to be sold to primarily kran guilds and akkaio ones to primarily enkidukai guilds? I suppose there are no primarily kran guilds out there but there are several primarily enki guilds some of which already have guild houses.

By the way what is the story about multiple guild-houses? Are they going to be allowed as long as they are in different towns? on different levels? not allowed at all? Is it determined how many of the buildings currently in game are going to be available for purchase or are they to be made available on an ad hoc basis. Are they still restricted to guilds and can they be resold by the successful bidder to whomever they please?

In the past some guilds acquired more than one house but that was fixed and the properties re-auctioned. Until enough are sold or until further notice, we're restricting ownership to a one guildhouse per guild.

Oh, And keep voting! :)

Hmm, I just may have to start the "Beggars Union" and try to beg for enough money to buy a guild-house.  Better still, given this character's background, I'll start up a Homeless Shelter and try to arrange government funding as well as begging in the streets for donations....

Can the prospect properties be opened for public walkthrough?  We'd really like to see how they are laid out inside...rooms, stairs, pre-defined art/decor or is it just a big empty blank box?  Given they are all different shapes and sizes, they all must be different inside, yes?

For the moment, there is only one layout for the interior of the guildhouses. Eventually more will be created but right now the thing that makes them unique is the building though which the map is accessed so keep voting so you get the one you want!

Here are a few screenies of the interior:

There already is a house anyone can enter near Hydlaa's Kada El Tavern. Don't remember exactly where it is, though.

Does your guild already have a house?

If so, you can still participate in the auction. You will receive a 2.000,000 trias credit for your guildhouse and you'll only have to pay the difference of the final price. You will need to:

To All Bidders: You must have enough money on you in order to bid. "My friend will come later to pay" excuses will not be accepted. The money can be distributed in the inventory of different members of the bidding guild, but it's better if you transfer it all to only one person to avoid complications.

Keep voting! Less than 24 hours left before the poll closes! ;)

Well that probably just shut out any smaller guild that thought they had a shot this time around.  A $2M credit on top of what a large wealthy guild can raise would be far beyond what any small guild could compete with, so the big guilds get an address change and the small ones get no opportunity at alll, as the former houses will be shuttered.

Sorry ... just disappointed.

Consider that guildhouses have sold for 5, 6 or 7 million in the past. Not all guilds will want to take this opportunity given the amount they will lose if they swap houses. We're still favoring the guilds that don't have a guildhouse in that sense.

I expect prices to be higher than ever before with the platinum abundance. Makes me wonder if roleplaying guilds will get a chance of buying a guildhouse. ::)

We already have a guildhouse but that's because the Dark Empire is not just a roleplaying guild .. it's the Greatest Guild around! :P

Ok maybe not but you asked for that. Calling me a hippie ... I bet people will totally miss that this is a silly joke and start whining about hostile DE promotion take-overs next though.

Perhaps we will change a few things in the next auction to give non-mining guilds a chance. I'll look into it. In the meantime, only 30 minutes till the first auction starts!

Yliakum has voted and here are the results [as of May 10 07:00 GMT]:

{SNIP}

Saturday 10

The first auction will be in Gugrontid at 16:00 hours.

The second auction will be in Ojaveda at 22:00 hours.

Sunday 11

The third auction will be in East Hydlaa at 16:00 hours.

I suppose we can assume that all times in this announcement are GMT, still it cannot hurt to add those three letters explicitly each time in the future.
Scanning the page I missed the first instance and took a minute to register that the others were GMT as well.

Congratulations to the happy Guilds with brand new guildhouses!

Gugrontid A was sold for 12 million trias to The True Prophets of Chaos.

East Akkaio was sold for 4.2 million trias to The Dark Warmongers.

Don't miss the last auction on Sunday 11 at 16:00GMT! East Hydlaa, the most voted house, could still be yours.

Xillix, to be honest .. I think we got extremely lucky. We managed to buy a guildhouse for under two million. As far as I know it's the cheapest one sold so far and for reasons still unknown to me nobody else was bidding. Either way, I'm not fussing .. I'm asking a honest question.

I do look forward to what Dajoji has in mind for future auctions.

Well, don't be afraid to come bid on the last auction! Today at 16:00GMT! That's in 30 minutes! :woot:

The Octarchal Auction is OVER! All three houses have been sold and the last one, the one in East Hydlaa, the most voted for, went to the Order of Light for the surprisingly low amount of 1.6 million trias! Now that I didn't expect. What a bargain for OoL.

Well, thanks to all who participated and congratulations to The Order of Light, The True Prophets of Chaos, and The Dark Warmongers. We'll be making guildhouses available through auctions again sometime in the future and looking into other ways for players to acquire them.

Oddly enough not one of those guilds appear in the first six pages of the guild announcement forum or are in the registry. There is a guild in those first six pages Prophets of Chaos that might be the same as The True Prophets of Chaos. Hard to say. Guess you can miss a lot when you do not get in game too often. Of course the introduction system could have had something to do with not hearing about them before too.

Good to see fresh blood making a mark. I do wonder though how many guilds have the same players in key positions. I suppose some players might have enough ambition and time for that.

Congratulations to the winners!

Oh, it's the same all right, don't be fooled.  Also I suppose there are a lot of guilds that don't advertise on the guild forums.  My guild is one of them.
