Title: Sound issue
Post by: mdjaved on May 09, 2008, 06:09:09 am
Hi! I just installed PlaneShift (I assume the version is v4.0) and the thing is once I have started the game and the login screen comes, I've noticed the sound (I should say the music) has some issues. I hear crackling noise everytime. I'm just wondering have I missed out anything regarding the sound due to which I'm having this problem. Thanks.

You can always just turn it off like I do.

If I turn it off, what gets turned off? Is it the sound effects or the music. If its the music, I can bear with it I suppose. But if its the sound effects, that would be weird playing without any sound at all.

Well, you can turn only the music off in the Options window after launching psclient.  Turning sound off in pssetup will turn all the sound off.

These sound problems exist for some people for a long time already. Next version of the client will use a different sound plugin, which may help. You may want to try out sound then.

Any idea when would the next version be out? I wanna play it when the sound issue is sorted out. It adds to the realism of the game. Hopefully it wont take too long. Till then I suppose I'll just test the other online games out there.

This problem happens on many integrated sound cards, mine included.

i have it to but it usualy goes away after awhile or almost as soon as i get in game but heres a litle trick i can give you, if your runing the game windowed and you hear the crackling start up another program and it should go away, if not instantly it usualy does after a few tries heh, as it seems the more power used to start another prog the faster this crackling goes away and the sound becomes clear
