Title: Can I associate a sound with specific game events?
Post by: rakshak on May 13, 2008, 01:45:39 am
[I don't know if this is the right place to ask, or this is the right question to begin with, so mods please moderate as needed]

I would like PS client to play a sound file after an in-game event is completed. Specifically, can the PS client play a sound file on successful or failed mining?

I know how to change music and some other sounds (explored the zip files in PS install directory) but not some other events like mining.

I would think it would take server side code additions to play sound file XXXXXX when successful/unsuccessful attempt to mine/ whatever you want to do.

I thought it would be possible by the local client itself? Just like it can play the sound files for the battles, can't it do the same for mining? Sorry if I sound too noobish but I'm not a developer :(

Thought I  would mention that there is no progression event for playing sounds on the server.  Also, I looked through the DB on SVN and noticed that there's a sound attribute in the item_stats table, but I have no idea what it does.

its an external program, but you could use it to load your systems log file and add sounds to found ore or failed attempts at mining.  works great on chat logs, so tells greets don't get missed.
